I have loved all lectures as well as the opportunity to bring my horse allowing me to progress with my studies alongside my sport. The use of the equine facilities has increased my motivation to succeed and the access to regular BS competitions allowing me to practise and compete. I love the social aspect and would live in onsite accommodation for the duration of my university course if it was possible.
An excellent careers department for anyone to access.
I love lab practicals where we can apply what we have learn in lectures to real life. I least like lectures where no discussion is involved and we just read off a PowerPoint.
Good but not heard a lot from them.
In good condition and a good location close to all facilities. Cost is reasonable.
Amazing quality facilities in particular the range of equine facilities.
University is in close driving distance from all necessary shops and facilities.
A huge variety accessible to all.
Good support in all areas. Private tutor sessions are available to book as well as sessions and meetings with advisors in other areas.
I have definitely had some good times and bad times, but mostly it’s just different. I feel like I’ve already developed so much as a person just for being here. I struggle quite a lot with the workload, but I enjoy the social aspect too.
They make a lot of effort to get students involved in different activities to develop soft skills and a range of employability options. They run internships, work placements in certain years and run modules based around developing soft skills
I like how interactive and understanding some lecturers are, as often they do understand how difficult some of the work is. I don’t like how uncommunicative most lecturers are in terms of assignments, as confusion is rising amongst my classmates in terms of what is expected of us in assessments, when assessments are due etc.
They offer a lot of student support, the union is always sending emails out about different activities and events they run. They give every chance to speak to people if there are any problems within the university.
Safety is lacking, I feel like anyone could enter university grounds and wander anywhere. The condition seems pretty good, the uni seems like it is well kept. The location is quite solitary, unless you drive or feel comfortable relying on buses, it is almost impossible to get anywhere. The cost of the accommodation compared to what’s included isn’t great, the rooms and bathrooms are quite small and considering the communal kitchen is share between 8 people, the kitchen space is tiny. There are also no washing machines in my type of block so it costs £3.20 to wash and dry one load of washing (assuming the clothes actually get dried first time)
Quite good, there are plenty of food places, student services, IT services, a bar where you can socialise and watch sports.
No, there is nothing within walking distance of the campus, so you either have to drive or hop on a bus to get anywhere.
There are loads of societies and sports’ teams, I personally haven’t joined any yet, but there are pages upon pages of different societies and sports
Personal support is a much higher standard than academic, I know the variety of people I can speak to if I have personal issues. I often feel when speaking to my academic tutor, the responses they give are much more general than I’d like, instead of actually helping my situation.
Pretty good, enjoyable, fast paced, so i'm never bored. Place is small so you bump into a lot of familiar faces quite regularly. I could do with a cooker in accomodation though...
Careers department, acheivement and success centre, work placements, job opportunities, student ambassador opportunities
Our CA tutor is fabulous, gets info across brilliantly. Shes the best. Our PVNP tutor is also amazing at what she does. Our AHVN lecturer can be kind of boring sometimes, but she tries hard. The new tutor shadowing our CA tutor goes way too fast, and assumes we have knowledge in areas we do not.
Havent heard much from them outsode of fresher's week. Dont really know what they're actually doing
Cost is a little expensive for the facilities provided, no proper cooking facilities available. Condition is decent. Location is great for getting to lectures, but not for going out. Safety is okay, security has been a little lax a few times and there's been a couple of incidents, but nothing dangerous
Overall, good. The library is great, as well as the study lounge. It would be better if the HE blocks had a common room so the study lounge could actually be used for what its for. Cafe is great, food is generally quute pricey though.
Only a 10 minute drive to city centre, although public transport is lax. Accommodation is available on site.
I havent heard of many societies outside of all the sports clubs. If you're a sporty person it seems great, but theres not much for those who arent, like myself
All really great, tutors usually respond within a few hours, wellbeing team is fabulous
Really good so far, hard work but overall just enjoying studying something I love. Would recommend this uni if you love animals, as they have over 90 species on site, and the sporting facilities are outstanding. There really is something for everyone at Hartpury, with great acedemic and personal support available if you need it. The library is very easy and usefull to use - and easy to renew online. Communication is amazing between lecturers and students
In fundamental skill lecturers we are able to learn different techniques like referencing and presentation skills which can be seen to help employability. The university is also linked with many other businesses which makes it easy for the work placement year
I like how there are many lectures, practical and seminar sessions, it enables me to identify strengths and weaknesses easier in different areas.
They are amazing and easy to get hold of via email and socail media. The facilities are top quality and include everyone
Very safe, need a key card to get in to everypart of the accommodation, cost is reasonable and the location is lovely, right in the town center so easy to go shopping when need be.
Very good, modern and clean
Yes its in a lovely location, easy to get to via the local bus and the university's mini buses.
There are many societies and sports to get involved in, a nice variation for everyone.
Acedemic tutors are very good at giving feedback in the seminar sessions, which allows a one to one, to chat with any issues I may be having. I know the uni has many personal counselling sessions available which are private and easy to book and get hold of the counsellors
It’s been amazing, great experience and helpful for my life meeting great people, also I have been able to become more individual and train my hardest for sport due to the facilitates
Monthly seminars on work experience and how to make your self more employable
I like the practical sessions and the plus 2 hour sessions can become boring
It’s nice but I don’t use it a lot
I believe it is very safe in a nice location, conditions are a good standard . Cost is the same as all others
Very good, perfect for sport and gym training
Yes very good location I enjoy the quietness of the rural areas, also only a 10 minute drive from Gloucester centre
Sport at hartpury is the best in the world and there are many sports available to perform in
Very good I don’t require lots of support but I see a lot of support for those who need it
My university experience so far as been amazing. I have made lots of new friends and felt part of a family. I have enjoyed meeting new people and going out and exploring around my university campus
Fundamental skills class for all courses
I love that functional anatomy is split into smaller groups as it allows you to make a wider group of friends. Do not like the fact animal genetics is on the equine course as I believe more equine genetic specific subjects should be available
My accommodation is perfect and in an ideal location, although off campus. It comes with an en-suite with a shower rather than a wet room
State of the art facilities, best equine facilities in the UK
My university is in a good location to local amenities and to my accommodation itself
Very varied and caters for all. Lots of sport activities
Not accessed any support yet
I have really opened up since starting university and starting my degree! I believe that as soon as I walked through Hartpury on my open day it was the right place for me and I couldn’t have been more right. I have made friends for life that truly are kind and caring people and the lectures are amazing. Not everyone can say they get to wake up and learn about what they love each day, but if you come to Hartpury I’m sure you will have the chance to learn about what you are passionate about!
The university holds dates for when you first start for many companies and local organisations to enter the university to talk to students about placements, work and more experience outside of the uni and so you get the chance to really widen your knowledge and work potential when studying here.
I really enjoy the course that I am studying the way in which each lecture is taught always puts a smile on my face. The way the information is presented by the teachers make me know I have made a great choice in studying at Hartpury!
I believe they do a great job at collecting data off students and trying to get everyone involved in the Hartpury life.
I think the accommodation is good, but it could be improved! Positives: - great place on campus - easy to find - cosy Negative: - Could look better with correct marinating of the building - Bathrooms need to be re-done
I think the facilities are amazing! The library ladies are so kind! I struggled with writing out my references and have found so much guidance and help with online resources and open work shops to help me get on track.
Hartpury is a great University that is placed in a great area! Close to Gloucester town and easy to access local shops and supermarkets! Unable to drive isn’t a problem as the bus service is also available for all student and is such an affordable price!
Great! Loads of opportunities to get fit and enjoy your spare time on campus with loads of clubs to join ranging from more physical sports such as hockey to calm and relaxing yoga 🧘♀️
Good! Support is always there and available at any time!
It’s been very fun and interesting so far, I don’t feel like I have been dumped into the deep end, I feel in control of my life and education thanks to the support of both my friends and tutors. I just wish the accommodation was of a better standard, especially for someone like me who has health issues and would benefit massively from a cooked balanced meal (the canteen is too expensive for the lack of quality and angry staff).
They offer a range of contacts within external industries and promote work related experience where possible. They also have a team of careers advisors who aim to improve your knowledge and aid you in creating strong CV’s.
Most = we have a great balance of taught theory and discussions within the classroom, I also feel that most teachers understand that this is new and scary but still treat us with respect. Least = very little interaction with actual animals.
Very respectful and they communicate well with students.
The safety and location are both great and maintained very well. Although the condition of my accommodation is poor, we also have no access to a over or stove even though we pay over £5000 for the year.
Very good, although some areas could be improved. For example more money should be put into animal management. The gym membership is also expensive for university students on a harsh budget.
My block is located very close to all my lectures, whilst the university itself is only a 10 min drive from Gloucester centre. The campus itself is stunning.
There seems to be a large range of societies available with the added bonus of students being able to create new ones if needed, as a animal student I don’t know a lot about the sports available but from what I’ve heard it seems well varied.
Very good, for the level of education we are at now they still try to offer support where possible.
Very enjoyable university with good quality teaching. Lecturers spend time explaining the processes of dofferent modules and guide you into self study well. Encourage good time management and make tasks simple.
Has a careers department. Less support needed for post graduate due to the typical student already being employed
Not much contact time due to being part time but the contact time is put to good use.
Very good reps, good facilities.
Very good location. Priced fairly based on competition.
Top facilities better than other universities offering like for like course
Easy links to large city and beautiful towns. Agruicultural cottage in a lovely location with stunning views.
Every society/sport you could wish for with a good support network
Very good support network, easy to access for both personal and professional use.
I love it! As well as the whole social aspect of university the academic side is really interesting and there is a lot more opportunities to have hand on experience whereas other universities don’t offer that.
Yes, as one of our modules we are doing a professional module therefore writing CV and cover letter as well as being shown the correct ways to answer questions in a interview
I love the fact we have seminars and demonstrations but I don’t like the fact that not all the information is on the PowerPoint
Really good! Has everything you need!
Wardens available 24/7 which makes me feel secure. Location is quiet which is great while studying and university offers transport to and from Gloucester. Condition of accommodation is good could have bigger fridge in kitchen. Cost is cheap for the facilities it comes with.
Top spec facilities!
It’s in a good location as it has onsite accommodation and a shop as well as a laundrette. And travel is offered to all students into the town.
I don’t partake in any sports but they look really good and there is a large range of societies to take part in
Really good! Very helpful and the support from councillors aswell as tutors is really helpful
