Very good experience so far, the campus is amazing, the facilities are great, it is very peaceful. Near the city center, but in a quiet place in the countryside
Hartpury University is a wonderful place to further your education. If you are interested in studying agriculture, sports or equine. This is the school for you!
Emails are sent out weekly for opportunities
Wonderful campus. The workout gym is horrible and needs to be remodelled
Yes, we are a 15min bus to the nearest town.
Top levels Available.
Academic support is available if needed.
Very engaging, has challenged me academically and supported me both academic and personally. I'm always encouraged to expand my argument and find out more, this makes me more interested in my subject area.
Good encouragement towards it
Our tutors are very engaging and interested in what they teach Some classes seem too busy, could be less people to properly engage
Don't know much about it
Good for equine
Out of the way but okay if you drive
Very good, tutors very supportive
Overall, my experience so far at Hartpury University has been amazing - I love the course and the huge campus to explore. I volunteer at the animal house every other weekend which increases my experience with exotic species. Also, I became a student ambassador to promote the university.
Careers department take lectures and meeting can be booked to discuss and advise on CVs etc.
Most - information is given clearly and can be repeated if not understood. Least - sometimes seeing the practical side may be helpful alongside the theory.
Could be more advertised around the university as unsure of what societies they have.
Amazing for sports and equine students. Lots of space in the library and a University study area to do work. Many walks around campus.
Yes - accommodation on site is in the middle of everything so lectures are only a 30second walk away, shops are a 10min drive however there are buses which pick up from the university if you do not have a car.
Could be some more societies, sport opportunities are numerous.
Great - personal tutors are always able to be emailed or booked with a tutorial. There is a wellbeing team onsite for any concerns which may arise during the time at university.
Incredible, I have loved every single second of being here! It is such a close knit uni that you get to know other people outside of you course and halls. I love both sport and equine therefor Hartpury has allowed me to improve my riding along side working towards a BSc hons degree in sport nutrition.
They give fantastic opportunities for work placements within and outside of the university. They also give us the opportunity to part take in courses that are a great help towards out courses and for future employability
Our lectures are all very interesting and many student led therefore making it more involving and generally helps with learning
Student reps are fantastic and help you out in any way that they can
The facilities are world class, from equine facilities to sport facilities!
Yes!! Although it is not in a city it is a very short drive from the city centre
The sports are of very high standard and there is little opportunity for recreational players however this is gradually improving
All support is fantastic, you are never a burden to any of the tutors and everyone are really willing to help
I am enjoying my time at uni, I look forward To the rest of the year. The subjects are intense, however majority of my classmates are completely comfortable now they have settled in
There are specific departments that specialise in Career development and support centres that work in tandem, they often host seminars and workshops to help pupils gain experience
The teachers there are relaxed as too is the atmosphere, they encourage 1 to 1 time with regular tutorials or if you have a question towards the end of the Lecture. Probably just a learning curve at the beginning, however the criteria can be fast paced
Facilities are immaculate
Facilities are constantly being updated, their new sports hall is fantastic
Yes, bus service provided is brilliant from town centre and halls
You are lost for choice, if you have a sport you wish to play/Perdue, they can accommodate
Contacting staff is simple and they often get back to you within 24hrs. Positive Feedback is always given when needed
Enrolment is always complicated each year, with people on my course all receiving different information etc. The university admin seem very disorganised. They change things to IT base but then it is not set up correctly or no one has the training to use it. Overall the teaching has been good with our course tutors doing a great job.
My qualification is a professional qualification so direct transferrable skills. It is very challenging to organise the work placements that we need though and often they take a long time to be approved.
Like the mix of practical and theory.
Have no experience of it
Not really applicable as I am only in for occasional weekends
I think there is a good variety but there is no real inclusion for post grad students
Great support from our course tutors. Not always linked in to the other opportunities.
It's been an amazing experience, stepping out of my comfort zone to try new things, meet new people, and develop along the way. I have enjoyed lectures and developing new skills each year
There is an amazing careers department at the university that offers one to one careers help and support with things like CVs, placements, job applications and masters applications. Wehave the ASC centre that offers optional sessions to boost academic performance with advice on IT skills, academic writing and exam technique. Due to Hartpury being a small university, it is easy to get a space on the courses and extra support
I like the way lectuers are taught and the small classes, as well as the variety of modules. I dislike the timetable structure and having to wait hours in between lectures
There are often surveys or emails where students can give feedback, or student reps ask for opinions so therefore, your voice can be represented. Hartpury has some outstanding facilities such the sports departments, labs and arenas. There are also many spaces where society meetings can take place.
outstanding - from sports to new technology that open to all students. Students voices are really heard and changes made, such as the new student lounge built this year.
It's about 15mins from the city so I get the bus but the bus is reasonably priced or free and comes often, or I get lifts.
Many sports Few societies, more are coming
Personal councilling is free and easy to get a slot. Academic tutors always offer weekly sessions for support and extra help with assignments, and feedback on assignments.
I came to hartpury for to study my undergraduate BSc Equine Science for which i gained a high 1st class qualification. I then got a job here as a teaching Assistant 2 days per week and therefore that allowed me to do my postgraduate. I love everything about studying at Hartpury.
ICE careers department and careers bus. Very helpful.
Level of teaching amd access the friendly staff that are always willimg to help. The design of one or 2 modules needed to be developed however staff are always flexible in dealing with any problems. Taught over concentrated weekends.
Fantastic best equine facilities in the UK amd possibly Europe.
Brilliant. I was able to try new thing like cheerleading etc. When I joined in first year.
Overall, the course is a lot of fun and has been a great experience, although a few speed bumps along the way! The teaching is good quality and course content very interesting. Communication with staff has been tricky at times, although they have always listened to feedback and this will hopefully improve in the future. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in a career in Animal Behaviour and/or Welfare.
There is a careers centre and careers resources online- I have not personally used these
Teaching for the Masters course is pretty much only at the weekends, which makes it easy to fit in work/life. However, only being around at the weekend means that communication with uni staff/lecturers can sometimes be a bit hit and miss
The SU seems to be very proactive and involved in uni life; they have helped with difficulties some of us have had during our time at the uni
I'm only around for teaching at the weekend- at weekends there is plenty of parking, the cafe is open and uni facilities are generally open. So far everything has been great!
Hartpury uni is very close (approx 10 min drive) to Gloucester- there is lots to do and plenty of places to stay
There seems to always be a lot on, however I'm not taking part in anything at the moment
My tutor and lecturers have generally been very supportive. I haven't used many of the other services, although IT support has been variable
