I went with a slight worry that I hadn't picked the correct course, but since starting I have never looked back. I'm loving living on my own and having the responsibility of my own upkeep. Everybody has been super friendly and supportive so I haven't felt worried or pressured. I started thinking of it as a second home very early on.
The ICE center offers support in running our own businesses for when we graduate. The ASC center also offers a number of sessions on transferrable skills
I mostly like the enthisiasm all of the lecturors have for their subjects. It really makes me want to engage. The thing i like least is the lack of guidance with regard to independant study, but I think that is just because I am not used to it.
There isn't a specific area for the students union- they mainly work in the background. Honestly I haven't seen much from them, but I don't particularly get involved in social events so I havent been looking. I like that they arent shoving things down our throats all the time.
Stunning. I've never seen anything look so lovely and well-maintained. Arenas are all spacious and well-surfaced, classrooms and lecture halls are big and I have never seen any issues.
Distance to my current accomodation is so close it's negligible so that is perfect. Hartpury is quite a small village so for amenities we have to go to Gloucester. As I dont drive, this can be an issue but nothing overly complicated as the bus runs reasonably often.
Large variety of societies and sports available. I didn't look much into it as its not my thing but there seemed to be lots on offer!
Very. Councellors are available whenever needed and tutor appointments are super easy to book. Emails are always answered within 2 working days.
Overall I’ve had a very positive start to my university experience. This has definitely been helped by the staff here at the university supporting me with all aspects of my university journey.
The university are constantly advertising job/placement opportunities for students to increase our chances of getting employed in the future.
My course is very practical and which helps the students to gain a greater understanding of the skills needed in the future. Which is really helpful. There isn’t anything negative about the way my course is taught.
The SU president is really helpful and engaging. The SU is okay, but compared to other universities isn’t the best, but they do try.
The facilities are amazing, it’s the main reason I decided to study here.
The University is a bit out of the way, but they do provide transport for students that can’t drive so they can get off site.
The university has a wide range of sports and societies. All students are invited to get involved with at least one, or at least take part in some form of physical activity, which I personally think is great.
The support offered my the university is fantastic! The tutors and programme managers are really helpful. They’re always willing to give feedback when needed. The ASC department are also really lovely and willing to help you when you need it.
So far I have enjoyed my time at Hartpury. As I said there are improvements that can be made to help make the school even better but from what I have seen so far it is an amazing facility. Being an international student, the support from the international team has been awesome and they really strive to make sure our experience all we want it to be. I have appreciated that they value our opinions on different things and hold us at high standard academically. Hartpury is a great school and I definitely would recommend to to another international student!
Hartpury provides on site career counselling for any queries that you might have this organization is very helpful.
My favourite course this semester has been professional development in sport. Our lecturer is amazing and even though he delivers quite boring information, I have seemed to learn the most from him. He does his job really well. What I don’t particularly like in 2 of my other courses is the way the lecturers deliver the information. I have found I am having to teach myself most things after class as more often than not the teachers will have information on slides but just read from them and I won’t understand it very well. The courses overall have great information in them but I believe the person teaching you the information needs to do it well otherwise it’s so hard to learn.
The student union always has something going on, and I believe they advertise it quite well. I think they should do more large activities like the winter and summer balls as people seem to attend those more than small activities.
The majority of the universities facilities are fantastic. The new sports academy is very modern and has a lot of tools in classrooms that really make your Uni experience different to other ones. I do think that the gym in the old sports academy could use some updating as it’s not as modern as the new sports academy and is lacking in having updated equipment. The places to get food on campus are usually running all throughout the day whether you need a meal or a snack there is always something to find. Legends bar is normally open for a hangout spot and many people will go their for a drink and some pool, nice way to get you mind off studies for a bit.
Hartpury is a 10 minute drive from the main city of Gloucester, where all things are accessible. Grocery stores, shopping malls, doctors offices can all be found in Gloucester as well as in the village next to Hartpury. If you live on site, amenities are very accessible and most things are only a 5 minute walk from where you’re staying.
There is always something going on around campus. There are a variety of academy sports teams that many people join as part of their Uni experience. Hartpury also provides intramural and drop in activities for those that don’t play on an academy team. The student union works hard to put on many activities throughout the year that students are encouraged to participate in. Personally I think the academy teams are awesome but I would love to see more advertising around intramural sports for those that don’t play on a team!
Every student in my course has a personal tutor as well as a supervisor for our dissertations. This is something I really enjoy as you can contact them outside of class time for any help on work or other things that you might need. There is also lots of support on campus for well being and it is well advertised by the school so that people know how to access it.
it's a great university I love it here, the transports are not very good and for equine people that don't have a horse it's really hard to ride which is a shame
they are great in that aspect you have all the support you need to find placements jobs stc!!!!!
I love the practical session although this year we don't do them as much, on the other hand, it is quite hard to do horse riding if you don't own a horse which is a shame because they have all the facilities and i don't get to use them as much because I don't ride anymore here
it's a good student union and they are quite active
in the quine department, they are amazing!!!!! you have all the facilities you need
the university is quite far away from the city and the transport to go to uni are not very good
THERE ARE A LOT OF CLUBS AND SOCIETIES AS WELL AS SPORTS BUT YOU DONT NECESSARILY KNOW ABOUT THEM OR WHAT THEY DO
the tutors are great in terms of support and all the staff
I love being at Hartpury. Have had a great experience in my time here and I’ve just applied for a masters here because al the teaching staff are amazing and very well educated
Volunteering at events, internships, can be involved with the different groups around campus. Hold careers event so you can get in contact with people you may want to work for in the future
All the staff are really helpful and give really good lectures.
Always have events on and easy to contact through Facebook
Very good. Equine facilities are amazing and the new sports academy has some really cool bits of kit in it
Yes, easy access to and from Gloucester whether you drive or not. Lots of busses and Hartpury fun a free minibus service too.
Lots of groups for everyone to sign up to no matter what department you study in.
Very good support from teachers, ASC sessions are also really helpful no matter what year you are in!
University life at Hartpury is great. It makes your dreams come true, it shows you how to stand out from the crowd. The education received here is applicable to real life industry.
We receive help with our CV’s and lecturers always make us aware of placement opportunities which we are well prepared for in class.
I love how practical and applicable to real industry my course is. Although practical sessions are great the theory classes are not always linked to them.
Students are very well represented in the Students Union, they always give us a chance to share feedback.
The facilities are safe and well taken care of. Sports and Equine facilities are outstanding.
It is located 10 minutes away from Gloucester which includes lots of accommodation for students.
Hartpury has many societies that make everyone feel included, and you can participate in great variety of sports which is an amazing opportunity.
Tutors make themselves available to give feedback to students or to help out at all times, it is great to receive so much support. Wellbeing at Hartpury is very well promoted there is always someone to talk to.
Had a brilliant time so far. Lots of amazing staff and students who all look out and help each other. Feel completely safe and I know I have lots of support around me.
Help and support available to help enable us to get the best job
All well taught!
Fantastic ! The people, tutors and facilities are great, well rounded education and love having animals on site. It’s great to have the horses in the stables on site
It’s fantastic and well rounded
University is great! Life here is hard. EU students don't get any financial support from the government or Uni and we can't afford our own transport, which is essential if you have to do with horses. The weather doesn't make it easier.
Could be better
I like the practical part of my course the most. I don't like the fact that we missed so many practical sessions.
There is a bus every hour to Uni from Gloucester. No buses on Sundays.
So happy I chose hartpury - the experiences, the people here are amazing. Never really had issues with anything. Tutors are always supportive and happy to help you out.
Most - how engaging the lectures and seminars are, the passion from lecturers Least - sometimes they can be a bit dragging and uninteresting
It’s not too long of a commute and the roads are relatively easy to negotiate
So useful, really easy to book and you get plenty out of them
