I think it has been really goood and I am enjoying my time here. It’s been a great time and I would recommend others attending this uni because it is tight knit and I like that
Yeah I’d say. I think sports therapy feels new and there aren’t as many job fairs with jobs in the field
Most: the lectures Least: not having a choice with electives
Kinda, needs some more options considering how far it is from Gloucester
Very good. Lectures very approachable
Would definitely say its been such a good experience. I've been able to play football against many different Universities, gain nationally recognised qualifications alongside my studies and contribute to the local community
Work Placements are encouraged on most courses and Hartpury recognises the value of gaining experience alongside studying
Most like: the amount of time given to go and gain experience in the area outside of university Least like: the lack of consistency of teaching within modules or in a department
The students union are available, but play a quieter role in the day to day life of the university
Large Library, separate to the onsite College. Coffee shops, bar and Uni only study lounge. The gym is fully equipped and plenty of space for walks, have a kick around etc. parking could be improved
Hartpury is a 15 min drive from the centre of Gloucester where there are many supermarkets, shops etc. There are plenty of buses and minibuses that can get you into Gloucester and a taxi costs around £15. It is also close to Cheltenham racecourse.
There is a huge variety of sports and its a brilliant pathway to entering elite sports. Hartpury is recognised in the sporting world as producing some of the best rugby players, rowers and has successful football players as alumni
Very good. always been able to find whoever I need whenever I've needed them
best university going, great vibes and for a land based uni there’s a great social scene. Lectures are good and the people are chill and it’s not far away from the city centre so not too isolated
Other than the careers advisor I’m not sure, not very well advertised
Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, can’t think of anything to improve
Sports are great
Needs improvement and there is also little info on how to join some of these
Haven’t received much of either
Amazing, I find the lectures and my tutor really supportive to help me to catch up with lectures as I miss some lectures due to rugby games. I have found that they are very helpful for further reading and feedback from work.
Very well represented, follow the social media to find out about different events that are pn
Very good. A new sports academy has been recently built and new labs which we use
It only takes me 15 mins to get to the university and I live next door to Aldi and a 5 min walk to Sainsbury’s and the quays
Very good. I am part of the rugby academy.
Overall my university experience had been very positive. I have already learnt a lot on my course which will be a great foundation of knowledge for which ever career I choose and there are a lot of options! I have a great network of friends already and I can’t wait to see what this year at Hartpury brings.
The uni provides core skills which are very transferable so that we have the best core skills for the many careers we could go into afterwards. The careers department is always in regular contact letting us know of any work experience opportunities that come up in the area. Hartpury has a great reputation which opens a lot of doors especially in the equine field as they know you will have had great equine industry exposure.
I love the laboratory work we get to do on our course which is so important to being able to take in all the book based science and seeing it in real life. My lecturers are all fantastic as you can see they have a real passion for what they teach and that can be a real motivator for you. Although there is not much interaction with horses in my actually course as I had hoped for riders who are maybe not at competition level there is always opportunities outside of this time to make up for it.
There is a strong student representation for students at Hartpury which is taken seriously and already establishing there mark for 2020. With great communication to all students it’s great to be apart of improving anything we feel could improve and keep us ahead of the game.
Hartpury has outstanding facilities on site. Especially in equine, you have multiple inside and outside arenas. Used not only by students but famous sports stars as there is also a rehabilitations centre onsite. The facilities are a great back drop for equestrian TV programs as we hold a lot of competitions and expert workshops. Not to mention the top quality rugby, football pitches and farm also onsite!
Hartpury University is based slightly out of Gloucester city which allows for the huge site. It is only a 15 minute bus/drive from the offsite Blackfriars accommodation. Car parks are based right outside the accommodation or there is a bus that comes regularly that is specifically for Hartpury students and the bus stop is only a 2 minute walk away and will drop you centrally on site.
There is a wide variety of of societies and sports available on site. From polo, football, tennis, netball to rugby there is something for everyone!
There is always a lot of support available on site and it is very easy to make time slots with tutors or lectures. Feedback is on a very easy software which makes it easy to access and lectures are always happy to discuss further in person. There is a lot of personal support also available especially around stressful exam times. There is also working therapy dogs onsite if you ever need a cuddle or some time out and fancy taking one of them for a walk.
Great experience so far. I am loving the lectures and the content as well. The environment and atmosphere around the university is also great and the location is beautiful as the campus is so large and great for taking walks around.
They have a careers department that came into our lecture to discuss with us and offer there services. So they are there should we need them. In lectures we learn alot of skills for the area of work we are interested in.
Like the practicle sessions and content. The pace and amount in a lceture is also great.
Student union is well represented. Not sure what facilities there are.
Facilities are amazing. Great libary, University learning center and study lounge.
Great location for lectures as a couple momutes walk away. No local amenities, need to have a vehicles to go anywhere, however travellign isnt too far.
They do have a variety for both nales and females which is good.
Great support offered; tutors are willign to book tutorials for work, ASC center is great for study and wellbeing issues and counsellors have a drop in service everyweek day so services are very good.
Very good Welcoming Straight forward There’s always someone to go to for help and advice Friendly Surrounded by people with the same passion and interests
Work placement Careers events Directions from tutors
Difficult to relate some of it to industry
Yes good. Could be more events
Lots of variety to chose from in the location as well as at the university
I have loved it so far and made friends for life. You meet like minded people who share your interests and have tutors who enjoy what they do and want you to learn and enjoy the learning you’re doing.
We have access to many help sessions and resources.
I really like how we have a mixture of theory and practical sessions, my favourite are our lab sessions taking part in dissections. My least favourite part is some theory sessions getting a bit information heavy.
They’re very helpful and involved and put on regular events and trips for all.
All up to date and kept on top of. The equine facilities and sports facilities in general are very good.
Yes very near Gloucester and cheltenham and only an hour to larger areas like Bristol, Cardiff and london
Plenty of societies and sports options available
The tutors are really attentive and try not to let anyone get lost in the crowd. We have regular one to one tutorials to check up on our progress and mental health.
Prefer my first year, but otherwise it’s been okay. Get involved in as many activities as possible. Meet new people. Don’t leave assignment to last minute. If you’re international have a think as holidays are always so short over Christmas
Aren’t to helpful, they could be a bit more outgoing and help.
Most- few people in my class so nice as it’s more one on one with the lecturer Least- exams before and after Christmas making it extremely hard for international students to book flights..
They are good could be a bit more interactive and organise more events
They okay, the food on campus isn’t too great for the price of it but it’s survivable.
For first year it is good as accommodation is on site. A stunning campus surrounded by fields and country side. However in December ons year a car is needed to make it easier to get to campus
Academic- good can easily get help. However they are not too helpful with televisions g dates for international students around Christmas time. Personal- I presume good
Overall my experience is good and I am happy I chose Hartpury for my course. I like how specialise the university is, which means there is a lot of attention and funding to all the 4 types of areas.
We do a fundamental skills module which preparations us for a few different things related to jobs and the work place/ where the course can take us.
I like having the lecture then a practical session afterwards which consolidates my knowledge. I dislike lecturers who read of the PowerPoint slides and don’t give any extra information.
Plenty of facilities, good study areas. I do speak to my course reps if I have any suggestions/problems or commendations.
Fairly good. Pretty happy with them other than legends bar now being the most inviting or exciting place, other than freshers week.
With being only 10 min drive from Gloucester it is perfect, whilst also still being in the countryside.
There is plenty to do but when I signed up during freshers week for clubs I don’t believe I got any contact from each clubbing about joining/activities.
I’m aware of the support that is provided, so far I have not needed to use the services but will do if required.
