The annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs) highlight the incredible work carried out by institutions for their students. Due to Covid restrictions, this year’s awards were not collected on uni campuses as usual, but instead based on submissions from institutions, which were then judged by our special student panel.

Even though Covid was not helpful to start the Uni. Hartpury did its best to experience their students with as much face to face content as possible. I have also got a finantial support as an international student for Covid testing by the time I want to go home. I will definitely come back for the second year as it can only get better. I can strongly recommend Hartpury for all passionate people out there.
I don't know a lot about that, as I'm first year student
We had quite a lot of face to face lectures
My time so far at Hartpury has been amazing. During my first year i had the best time every. My second year has consisted of placement but the contact from the university itself has remained.
All shared spaces are thoroughly clean. The facilities are amazing and of very hight standard.
Poor facilities for canine students. The course also is poor with only 10% canine. The rest are subjects that have nothing to do with canines. The lab facilities are good for dissections and practicals. The animal collection is good, but could do with some updating and new species. The staff are always extremely supportive and helpful. If you are an equine, agricultural, or sports student. Then this uni will suit you.
The staff have done their best to make the online learning style as productive and accessible as possible. The teaching hours have not been equally weighted. Some days over 6 hours of lecturers which is too much for online, compare with some days being 1hour. We also need a day free in the week. The tutors are always accessible and helpful.
For people off campus that have to come in, very little opportunity for for finding places to conduct online meetings . The library area is small and is for all undergrad students. Limited books for my new course. The lab facilities are great, and the animal collection is good. For canine students we have no access to dogs for regular training. No training area/practical area specifically for canine practicals.
I have an amazing MH nurse, and my tutor is excellent. There are loads of opportunities for help and support.
Very good, a few issues along the way but nothing to bad. Adaptive during pandemic to allow full learning experience, extensions when required, practical all involved with hands on with some species. Lectures have lots of good knowledge to share, guest speakers relivant to course, worksheets and adaptive for those who can't come on campus. Free covid tests and good communication on any changes made
Careers advisor on site and available online, workshops online, affiliation with several buisness world wide, practical experience, work experience, relivant guest lecturers.
Lectures have been very informative and always recorded so we don't miss out on content, teaching hours adjusted to suit covid, practicals have been fab and relivant to subjects, 1-1 support always available
Large animal collection to allow hands on experience, working lab equipment, dissection practicals, ppe available for hire, face masks on enrolment, all facilities clean and sterile after every practical to prevent covid risks
Wellbeing support has been okay, support provided through DSA was sorted quickly, allow for extensions when required, extra time in exams, 1-1 tutor support both accademic and course related.
It's been an amazing first year, the only downside was that I wish I was able to complete more practical sessions in person but this wasn't possible because of COVID. So I am very much looking forward to my second year and hoping that I will be able to come on side to the uni more and use all of the amazing facilities that they have. I am going to say that I don't think my time at university this year has been value for money, but I believe that I would feel this way about all universities as I don't think students should be paying full price when everything is being done from home and is all online learning.
I think that everyone has adapted really well to the sudden online learning considering the current climate with COVID, and I am pleased with the support my lecturers provided me with.
The toilets are always clean and so is the campus.
There is so much mental health support at Hartpury that I have had experience with, it's amazing, the staff are great and so supportive and get back to you very quickly.
Overall I still enjoy my university and whilst this year is not ideal it did make me appreciate what some lecturers do for their students and their modules. I'm not sure the price tag per a year is justified fully as we haven't had access to the campus and its facilities most of this year but I can see where staff have tried to adapt to aid us as much as possible.
I am aware of our Careers and Enterprise Centre who will help with looking for work experience, jobs and similar opportunities. This year they have been accessible online more which is good.
Most of my modules/lecturers have tried to adapt as much as possible and give us support along the way, one or two have not quite been as helpful. I have been taking part in blending learning across the year, majority of the time I am online but have attended some lectures and most practicals.
COVID protocols are clearly marked out, with mask zone signs and hand sanitiser stations in plenty. All buildings are clean anyway. The campus and its facilities is one of the main reasons I chose Hartpury.
They flag post the services available in different formats (in emails, on moodle or through physical leaflets/posters etc). I personally haven't used specific services other than speaking to my tutor.
Lecturers and facilities are good and set up safely for Covid. ASC support has been outstanding. Feel the final term has been quick - dissertation module was the only module I struggled with as there was a large online group
Already have a job before finishing my degree
Good and quick transitions between online and in person teaching - lecturers friendly and approachable knowing students on a named basis
Lots of facilities with constant upgrades 24 hour library access is brilliant
ASC support is above and beyond, the support teacher I have has been there for me throughout my studies. Even through Covid she never missed a lesson with me
I am going to be sad to leave Hartpury when I finish. This place is not a uni it’s a family and a family that want to see you succeed and work with you. I thank you Hartpury for giving me such a special time in my life.
Whilst studying both my undergrad and masters I have been offered numerous roles and I am now employed in a professional teaching career
This has been amazing in a way that supports my disabilities. My uni has bent over backwards to make me feel comfortable as a high risk person with Covid and learning needs.
They had always offered to support me with equipment to support my needs. They even gave me my own individual toilet so my illnesses do not put me at risk.
Mental health has been number one with my student advisors. They have given me extra sessions especially when I lost a baby while studying. This support helped me continue and have the ability to even call them when ever I was having a bad moment.
This year has been very different due to the pandemic and we have all had to get used to new technology very quickly. However everyone has been very helpful and lecturers in particular have gone above and beyond to make sure content was delivered in an interesting way. In fact being online allowed access to some great guest speakers who we might not have been able to experience in person. So, although this year wasn’t as great as the previous 3 as all classes were online, I truly believe that Hartpury has done as much as possible to help and support us.
Smooth transition to online tuition due to pandemic. Lecturers very supportive and responsive to emails when not in lectures. Plenty of opportunity for online discussions and workshops.
Love the beautiful campus. Top class facilities.
I returned to education as an adult and Hartpury was the university i wanted to go to. I have received excellent, personal help for all my additional needs, and as someone who is an international, mature student. The staff is very approachable and we really get to know our lecturers. I love that the campus is rural, but its very accessible. The location is beautiful and the facilities are excellent. If you are looking to study any animal related degree, Hartpury is an exceptional choice.
