Professors have fixed ideas about their way of teaching and learning and do not see beyond their traditional methods. They ask you for critical thinking even though they don't want it: you have to jump through the hoops of their hobbies (and even their political thinking) to be positively valued, without really taking into account divergent, critical and plural thinking.

Initially when I moved to London from India. It was a huge and drastic change for me. As a child, I was always by myself since my parents were always working, and I managed to do everything by myself so it wasn’t too difficult moving away and living alone. But even then, London being a huge city with such a huge and diverse population, I felt lonely at times. But the facilities at Goldsmiths really helped with my loneliness a lot. My professors are also really understanding and always helped me when I struggling with my work. Going to the SU Bar (Student Union) was always a stress reliever for me. I would meet up with my friends and have a good time. Another thing that I want to mention is that, the facilities near the university is great. There are multiple student friendly supermarkets and great restaurants which are affordable. I also feel like the accommodation services could be improved a lot. I stay at Loring Hall, which is a university accommodation. The rooms and bathrooms could be improved a lot more. The bathrooms could be cleaner and a cubicle could be installed so that the water doesn’t seep out while showering. Larger en-suite rooms with double beds can be provided as an option in all the university accommodations. The location of the University is kind of a huge let down. London is such a beautiful city with so many things to do but since the university is located on the other end of London, it’s pretty difficult to commute to central london where the main attractions are located. Whenever I go to places like Oxford Circus and Mayfair, and return back to my accommodation, it feels like i’m in a different city. These are a few things that I thought would be worth mentioning. I love my law department because they are helpful when needed, they always have time to address any problems that you are having with the course modules and I love my personal tutor She is honestly bad ass and helps me so much with everything she always has the best interest out there for me and it can be a lonely time whilst at university, another aspect at uni the uni life is not what I expected I thought it would be more fun adventurous but not really it’s plain black and whit simple and one aspect I hate with my uni marking my uni work is the worst because I feel at times it is marked to the point you are so close getting a 2.1 and they mark it a 2.2 and you are literally 2 marks away from a 2.1 and I feel like it messes up the average so much on your transcript all in all it’s been great so far just the marking of the work has been not so great

What makes Goldsmith a great place to study? I would say mainly the freedom it gives you to be yourself. The different curriculums and activities you can join in. That everyone shape, colour and sexuality is represented and talked about in a good way. Goldsmiths could be improved with the coursework deadlines being so close together. Leaving students very stressful and leaving a strain on their mental health. Talking about health Goldsmiths needs to be more educated on different chronic illnesses, as only a very small amount knows what sickle cell anemia is, and which is very bad as it affects mainly black people.

Goldsmiths is located in New Cross which is such a vibrant and interesting area: lots of culture and great cafes/pubs/takeaways/shops. Lecturers and seminar leaders are very friendly, however there is the expectation that you just know how to do things (e.g writing an essay). My course is extremely fascinating and I’m so glad I chose it. Goldsmiths’ facilities are good but they are lacking things like a gym and the SU could be better, especially in terms of societies. The administration at Goldsmiths is pretty bad, especially at the start of term, which they should really anticipate by employing some temporary staff. The buildings are well maintained. Student accommodation is good. There are often talks and activities going so that is fun to engage in.

I would say it is a great university in terms of facilities, location, lecturers, and possibilities you can get from it. You can get all the help and information you want/need as long you will be trying to get it yourself. But it is not perfect, as social life I would say is almost non-existent, the SU team is not as supportive as they might project themselves but they are not bad as they do help quite a bit.

The faculty really do their best when not on strike to help students and make the transition as easy as possible. The workload for the first year is manageable and interesting, the only negatives I would say are the facilities and strikes. Which is not at the fault of the school but more so of management. Taking in mind how much students are going into debt to go to university; lecturers and educators should get paid a living wage and not have to strike because of poor management.

Goldsmiths is so close to central London, there's always stuff to do! The campus is relatively easy to navigate and there are loads of fun things to find there!

The vibe is amazing and the staff are really nice! However, the support is sometimes confusing and hard to reach and not enough is put into non-academic student facilities.

Everyone is very friendly, facilities for media are very good, course material is challenging but engaging. Could be improved by making student support much better as the university is very bad at responding to emails, giving grades and feedback on time, etc.

Teachers are amazing, but they are not paid enough. University has created hostile environments by firing and re-hiring them every single term, so off-term, I am in no contact with my teachers. The uni is known for its humanities department and it is getting massive cuts, while computer science and economics get big funding. Very unappreciative towards creative fields and humanities.

The university provides a diverse environment and supportive module convenors in the politics department. However, it's also important to recognise the challenges that the university is facing, particularly with regards to centralising everything and the new department hub. The centralisation has resulted in difficulties in dealing with student questions, and that the hub was not adequately prepared for the capacity of students' needs. There may have been an underestimation of the workload involved in centralising and letting go of staff. It's also concerning that there is a backlog of work from last year, which needs to be addressed. In terms of how things could be improved, it might be helpful for the university to conduct a review of the centralisation process and identify areas where improvements can be made. This could involve gathering feedback from students and staff to ensure that their needs are being met. Additionally, the university could consider increasing staffing levels in the department hub to ensure that students' questions are answered promptly and efficiently. It's important for universities to continually assess and improve their processes to ensure that they are providing the best possible experience for their students.

Im really happy about my uni experience, I am happy with my course I think we have really good lecturers who are passionate about what they teach and help us grow interest in our course. I like the student union and I really think there is a really positive university environment within in students and really diverse. I would possibly improve some uni facilities, although I believe the spaces in general are really good sometimes I have been in classes really close to music students for example where some of my seminars have been disrupted

This is a good place to study when it isn't marred by continual industrial strike action which is common and disruptive. Tutors do their best to work around this. They have a reasonable amount of study space, albeit quite shabby looking. The library is very good here and it's central location in London is excellent.
