I really like it and am sad it is ending ;( I'm considering the masters just to stretch it out. The tutors are great, the events are entertaining and the projects are interesting
Very very good, there's free hot chocolate, IT is responsive and the PCs are fast
It's a little self sufficient, there are meetings with the tutors but it's mostly to check everything is ok
Lots of great restaurants and food places no accommodation though
It's a freeform structure, no lectures just time and resources to use as you will for your projects

CV and portfolio reviews and workshops!!!!
It's good. The course requires you to work way more than the allocated 15 hours of contact time. Dedication is crucial here and lot's of hard work, but I love doing this, so it works for me. Tutors and classmates are friendly, staff is available for help. Course marking is not really clear though.
It's fairly good. Very professional environment, mimics a studio as closely as possible. Break out space is very friendly and relaxing. Work studios are industry standard or even better. (Apparently we have better workstations here than they use at Framestore, so that's something.) Although sometimes availability can be problematic around deadlines and the coffee machine/dishwasher breaks down a lot.
It's ok. Size of classes makes personal feedback difficult, but they try to address this and we have 3 tutors and 2 studio assistants to help. Counsellor is overworked, I couldn't get proper counselling as only 4 months left from the course and the waiting list was longer.
Accommodation vise: no. Central London, so easy to commute but can't afford to live anywhere close, so I'm travelling 17 miles each way every day. But perfect location for commuting and industry connections.
Most: industry standard knowledge is taught, great software and hardware available. Purely project based, so a lot of skills to learn. Least: 1st year is generic, not course specific. I'd love more theory about games to be taught in first year and stronger enforcement of the key principles in each project. Like please don't give a prop artist mark in the 90s when they don't follow accurate PBR values, etc.

Plenty of workshops, CV clinic, industry engagement, professional practice classes and research to be done. But they don;t let us off for competition or game jam work which could help even more. Maybe implement it into curriculum?
It has been good, however I already understand almost everything that I am being taught and I expected the lessons to be a little more advanced for a specialist university.
Very good, free hot drinks and nice lounge/common room area.
Written tutor feedback is very basic. However in lesson, feedback and help is sufficient. The uni also offers lots of other support.
Yes, one short train journey from home and large range of amenities in the local area.
That we are taught every detail of the software. However, it can be difficult concentrating through the whole lesson.

Helping with portfolios
It has been very pleasant. I've passed all my modules so far and I really like the tutors and other staff. The workload was surprising but it was doable so long as you're not lazy about it. For the first year ,if you have good time management ,you wont need to stress over staying up late to finish projects ,which I assume will be different in the later years .
Really good facilities for the courses Provided. High Performance computers with all the software you could ask for in the courses and for personal work.
The tutors are all very experienced as they have all come from the industry we plan to work in which is nice when you are getting feedback as you know its from a professional.
It is a good location for local amenities. Accommodation not so much because the uni is in Zone 1 of London.
It's always practical work meaning you are constantly gaining experience on the field you want to pursue.

Overall its been really good I've met lots of new friends who will be lifelong in my eyes but also I have figured out what I want to actually do with my life which turns out to be rigging instead of animating. I'm being taught at a industry recognised institution and I really enjoy the small class sizes and the on hands approach to teaching.
They're good, lots of workstations to work on with all the latest software in order for work to get done. Lots of space to chill and ready as there are lots of materials to read regarding 3D
I'd say its pretty good tutors actually care about you and know you personally. obliviously some tutors are better than others. I still think there is some work that needs to happen because I often feel like I can't really talk to tutors about personal stuff but then that may be a me problem.
Escape is very central in London which is good, only issue is due to the fact that I commute in it takes around 1 and a half hours meaning I can't stay as late I like while attending events. In terms of local amenities there is a good selection with a gym close by as well as a ton of food choices from Sainsburys to Pret and recently a Coco de Mama (that I have still yet to try). There is also a pancake house and a post office too and we are very close to surrounding VFX and animation studios such as Framestore, MPC and Blue-zoo
I like the fact that when you start in year one you get a taster of everything and even have the option to change to another course. I like how hands on the course is in the sense that we have no exams and it is all coursework based. However, what I don't like is the fact that because we were the second intake of students all the kinks weren't fully worked out so it felt like we had to have two years of content taught to us in one year.

Very good, there is a whole module related to this where we develop our soft skills and work on our CVs and cover letters. Also there is loads of networking events that we can attend including the VFX festival that is run by Escape but on top of that there are also studio visits and evenings with people from the industry
Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Escape Studios. My peers are very friendly, the tutors are approachable and seem to be genuinely invested in our success and the assignments have given me a lot of freedom to explore my creativity and develop my skills.
The facilities are very good. There is plenty of studio space with more than enough computers that are available from early until late everyday. Even on Sunday until 6pm, which is great! Every computer comes with a wacom tablet with well looked after pens.
There is plenty of support provided by the university as far as tutor and personal support is concerned. Most lessons begin with our work being assessed and that continues to happen upon request during the lesson. Every class has a studio assistant as well, which allows for more regular support should the tutor be busy helping someone else. During my time at Escape Studios I have been unfortunate to experience bereavement which was handle by my tutor and the student services instantly and compassionately. I was able to apply for an extension and received confirmation within the hour. I was very happy with how this was handled as it was a tough time for me and could have had more of an affect on my studies if not done in the way that it was.
The university is in a very good location. There are plenty of places to eat and being in central London transport is very accessible. The main perk of the location is that we are close to the big animation studios in London. This means that on multiple occasions we have been privileged to have professionals come in to give us advice and critique our work.
I like that the courses are taught in a way that gives you plenty of freedom, enables you to build a good portfolio and is aimed at preparing us for the working world. I would prefer if more time was put into to learning traditional animation techniques and the theory behind animation. However, the tutors do advise us to do this in our own time and traditional techniques are less sort after in the industry so I do understand why this is the case.

The main aim of every assignment has been to help us develop the necessary skills needed to improve our employability. We are constantly promoted to go to effects festivals and events that give us the opportunity to network and to promote our work.
mashallah! this university muahhhhhh hamdouallah the coffee is good thanks and OMG thankkkkkk you for the assistant teacher cause without them I would be so lost
good

i don't know
My overall experience academically has been enlightening, but personally awkward with some students who wish to try and put me down. I like being in a space where I can learn and continue to excel in going forward.
Good
It's supported very well academically, personally not so much
Yes
I like how practical the courses are, I don't like how they are organised.

It gives me a raw set of skills that I'll continue to evolve throughout my time, and connect me to industries that specialise in what I'm interested in.
Very good, not too stressful but still challenging and fun, there is always good support of you're struggling and they have a lot of contact time to your work get help every step of the way , there is a very good studio environment that gets you ready for industry
Very good, always a free studio to do work outside of class, the studio closes late so you can stay behind and animation is building up a small library to help with references
All the tutors are very reachable and you can ask questions and consult tutors that aren't connected to your course if you want to experiment with your work
It's in high holborn so close to a lot of things and easy access to many bus stops and tube stations, accommodation can be a while away but never usually over an hour commute
What I like the most it the connection with the industry, there are many time where we get the chance to network What i like the least is the fact that the coffee machines keep breaking down

Early contact with the industry plus they contact Escape of they have any vacancy's before they post the listing, they also encourage us to apply to summer internships
this university has benefited me greatly in terms of professional skill set and personal growth. I knew little to nothing about the games industry before coming to Escape, but now i feel confident enough to enter into the field
Very good.
Tutors can be contacted very easily and give useful advice. the counsellor can be contacted just as easily, and the support is very beneficial
Whilst busy, the location is easily accessible through public transport
Initially, new techniques and lessons are taught in a classroom/tutorial format and are easy to follow along, and can even be accessed afterwards if something is missed.
All modules are created to replicate the standard that is expected at industry level, and they prepare us to find jobs in said industry by having a professional practice as part of the course
Other students also liked these unis - you might too!
It’s the accessibility to the lecturers and lecture materials, the environment and the local community have been so helpful.
I enjoy the support from the lecturers and the college wanting to provide a nice studying environment for higher education students. I do enjoy the campus site however a disadvanta...
