Im liking it but I need to get more involved in the music scene and take more responibility for my learning. The facilities and tutors are excellent and I couldnt ask for better.
Real world experience, workshops, Industry professionals
I like how hands on it is but I wish there were more 1 to 1 toutorials
I dont have alot of knowledge of it
Great I love the music scene especially
I wouldnt know
Really good from a professional and personal stand point there are many councellors there to help people when they need it
Amazing, would recommend this to anyone interested in Studio Engineering. Great access to high quality equipment, and constant support and encouragement from both lecturers and support staff.
Guest Lectures. Contacts with local industry organisations. Volunteer scheme.
A lot of 1-2-1 time with course lecturers unlike larger universities, and plenty of accessibility to industry standard recording studios and equipment.
As it is in partnership with Marjon's the SU was not situated close enough to visit.
Ever evolving. Plymouth has the benefits of a city with the attitude of the country. During the summer there are many seaside festivals to access.
They are ok but could be better
Amazing, the support team were friendly, approachable and always contactable.
Overall the university life has been good. As dBs as an institution is quite small, it wasn't exactly how I thought it would be, however it feels like you're part of a community at dBs and it is definitely much more personal than a larger institution.
Offering professional guest lecturers and extra curricular activities with professionals within the industry
The lecturers are all approachable and work hard to ensure that each student has the correct support
It is good but could be improved
The clubs are greats
Tutorial are available to be booked and counselling is readily available should any student need it. Extra support such as study support is there for students that need it.
my overall uni experience has been good. i have learnt a lot about my subject and built professional skills which will help me to build a future. The only let down is traveling to get there as it costs me 5 pounds per day via bus
When there are opportunities available there will be a broadcast email sent
I like the way that some of the lessons build up information to contribute
they are really good
the city life is interesting. busy but friendly
there s a good support system but is definately understaffed
Good overall needs more studio access to help with certain projects but overall very good. Tutors are helpful and techs are always available. And is always open late and on weekends
Links to industry connections
Too much science compared to practical skills
I love it! I never want to leave dBs. I'm in here most days of the week out of choice - even on weekends! The building is so chilled out and the facilities are best.
We are able to use all of the studios as well as industry standard equipment. Furthermore, we are offered work from dBs productions which gives us experience and opportunity to earn money for our work.
The staff are relaxed and friendly with students which I feel encourages us to get involved. The tutors go out of their way to support students ideas.
Brilliant! The uni is full of equipment and if you have ever forgotten to bring anything in, the uni is able to supply it.
Bristol is a vibrant, buzzing city with plenty of events and things to do. There are music events on every night of the week so it is perfect for anyone studying music.
Great - the staff go above and beyond to provide support for students.
I've really enjoyed the experience, though I really dislike how expensive the entire thing is for what you get out of it. I really like my course, get along with my classmates well, am fond of my tutors, and believe the university was a great choice for me.
Work based learning modules. Connections to industry events.
+ Lots of practical work - Lots of bug testing
Not really involved. Too many responsibilities outside of Uni.
Very good. Lots of access to gear & facilities.
I don't live in the city, but Bristol is a fantastic place to visit. There's an endless supply of places to go, and lots of great food.
I don't belong to any, but am aware of different university activities.
Very good personal support.
I am extremely happy to have chosen this university and this course, I am glad that I move from Italy to Bristol for studying and I will probably stay here for a few years as I already have the job of my dreams thank to my university! I am at my third and lart year and i will miss a lot going to University!
The whole university is very practical-based, which rrally helps developing the skills necessary to work. The work based learning module at the second year is also a great opportunity for us to get real work, but the best thing is dBs productions, which takes on real commercial works and employs students overseen by tutors and professionals, it is an effective model that gives students real-work experience in a safe environment in which they are allowed to make mistakes, it is great and I already have a lot of work thanks to it.
I like the friendliness of the tutors and the amount of practical projects we do. We do get masterclasses abd workshops but i think they are never enough, likely they are getting more and more each year!
I am not sure what that is
Bristol is the best city in the UK.
I don't know
It is very good and friendly.
The productive mentality of the people teaching and those you work with provides lot's of confidence and motivational possibilities for collaborations and adaptive learning.
It offers unique in world experience and teaches the importance and value of daily practices otherwise not addressed. Promoting adaptability with different pathways within music as well as providing exciting opportunities to work with film students. It's connection with the industry allows the student to see and meet people within the buisnesss as well as providing amazing guest lectures from renowned figures. This addresses the natural anxiety students feel when thinking about their future.
They are patient and diverse and understand the psychology of creative students, providing motivational help and support with any question asked. The information provided is in depth and well structured and provides confidence in a composer/producer/musicians sound. Allowing the development and collaboration and key meathods of organising ones time.
I have not been educated on the importance of a student union which is why I have not delved into it, but after being posed the question. It makes me want to research my union.
We are provided top of the line equipment and tech, as well as extremely expensive instruments and synthesisers otherwise out of the price range of a lot of students. Opening possibilities for development.
Bristol is a creative, progressive and productive city with exciting events and activities occuring reguarly. It provides many job opportunities, networks and easily accessable facilities in all fields of life. It is very central in the UK and has a thriving music and creative collection of industries. Providing optimism for future artists and hard working people.
In a word, diverse. It's broad multi-cultural benefits allow for cultural education, especially with the variety of music on offer to be heard.
The waiting list for councilling is a little long but the facilities and support are provided.
It's been great. The tutors are very helpful and the facilities are fantastic. I look forward to class and so far the assignments have all been interesting and projects I'm keen to work on both at university and in my own time. I'd encourage anyone with aspirations to work in game audio to come to dBs.
Provides workshops, guest lectures and events where students can network with people in the same field.
I like learning about the new software and the practical work as well as having access to studios, mics and hardware I otherwise would not be able to use. The limited software available on the Macs
I don't as I'm too busy
Great. I have lived in Bristol before so I'm very comfortable here and having the uni close to the centre of town is great.
While I have not used student support personally, we've been told about them and encouraged to use them. My tutors have been very helpful
