University rating (5)

Cardiff is a beautiful, easily accessible city and the university is also exactly that. The staff are amazing. The facilities are great. There is always somewhere different and beautiful to study and all buildings have access to a range of facilities. The university is always on hand to help and there is endless opportunities for networking and career activities. There is something for everyone and Cardiff

The Bute building could do with some upgrades to bring it up to a very high standard. The WCs and taps have been out of use and I have to walk a long way to get to the closest bathroom from our studio. The students union is very good and the facilities they offer there are great, there is a good scene in the city and the University likes to encourage nightlife through organised socials. The SU also puts on events although I haven't been yet. I can't say for rating the other university buildings but overall the Bute building is fairly decent but I just feel that some of the facilities could be refurbished. I am in the fourth year of my course but joined Cardiff in fourth year so it is very new to me, the support from the school has been fantastic as we are working on a placement year and don't come on campus so often. I feel more support could be given to students trying to find accommodation during term time.

History BA (Hons)

University rating (4)

The location of the University campus is perfect for walking into university as well as into town. It feels very connected to the centre of Cardiff which is nice. The Student Union is also great and is very involved in Student life. Regarding improvements, maybe more course related events by the university but this is only a minor point.

I think that Cardiff is a wonderful city and the university is beautiful and centrally located. There are a great variety of clubs and societies to get involved with and the facilities such as the sports center and library are excellent. I think the teaching is also good but that more focus needs to be given to supporting student with essay writing and exams given the impact of covid on our learning and experience with completing exams/ writing essays. Mock exams and formative assessments are valuable and aren't utilised enough.

The large majority of the social events revolve around partying/drinking and as a student who doesn’t drink alcohol, I don’t find it very inclusive. But people are generally friendly and there seems to be a nice culture.

overall the staff and lecturers are very friendly and the lessons are well laid out. There are lots of events and useful information available at the SU. Some of the chairs throughout the university are not the most comfortable and living near the university can be rather noisy. As a disabled student I appreciate that the university seems to value our feedback through things such as thinking differently.

Medicine (MPhil, MD, PhD)

University rating (5)

Cardiff is a great place to live with everything students could want on the doorstep. The student union is extremely successful and hosts many exciting events for students to get involved in such as Varsity. Library facilities are IT support are also really good. The medical school can occasionally feel impersonal as the size of the cohort is so large, so more effort to keep students engaged with personal tutors and members of staff would be appreciated.

Very supportive and very good course structure. There isn't many trips or extra stuff to do with the course and some of the buildings are not the nicest.
