When I came to UK for the first time, I had a lot of doubts and fears about it as it’s the first time I am in a totally new place and studying a Masters course. Aston University has helped me to overcome these doubts and fears from day 1 and they helped me a lot in my academics and I would suggest Aston University to all the young lads out there for their future.
The faculties and the modules were really good and it covers all the aspects of my course in a very good manner. The faculties were really helpful and they are always easy to contact when you need them. The Career and Placement Cell helps you to land a good job and kickstart your career.
Staff members are very helpful with academics and employability and there is a great feeling of community.
I have been able to choose from a range of optional modules to meet my career path.
Birmingham is a diverse city where you can find anything you may be looking for and there are plenty of opportunities for part time jobs and graduate schemes
Very convenient since it is close to the city centre and on campus
Great facilities and classrooms with great support from staff.
Good use of blended learning however course content can vary a lot and is not always useful. Lots of support from lecturers and can always contact them for additional support.
Big city with a lot of diversity and opportunities for university students. Cost of living is quite high especially around the city centre where the university is located. A lot of stores and facilities in walking distance which is beneficial for university students living near the area.
Big spacious rooms that are safe and secure. Great learning spaces for students. Cost of the rooms are very high but place kept in good condition for students use.
This is a great place to study, because of the location everything that is needed is not far away
Some of the lecturers didn’t offer as much help as I thought they would
Aston have a very good student student alumni and support. They have all the available tools, and offer learning development centres which are necessary for students. So studying becomes very easy as students are assured support if they are in need of assistance. An area of improvement which Aston could focus on is the interior and exterior of the campus. I think there should be more effort in making the university more aesthetically pleasing for visitors and students. For example, Birmingham City University has a more modern look and it gives of a great environment to enjoy activities in. Another area of improvement for Aston could be to upgrade the computers and technology made available to students especially. Some of us students are used to operating Apple products such as MacBooks pro’s. Integrating this to the already available tech available, will ensure students are comfortable and familiar with the operating system that they are using. Doing so will improve and speed up workflow and performance for students. However, all together, the University is not a long way from fully fulfilling the satisfaction of students. One thing i really love about the university is the ability to charge your phone anywhere without having to use a plug. Almost anywhere theres a usb port available to assist battery drainage. I hope this review helps with whatever your looking for! Thanks
Aston have very dedicated staff who go the extra mile in ensuring students fully comprehend lecture objectives and are on their way to getting a first. Not to mention the use of Blackboard allows students to get the full capacity of their course content. Aston University are continuously improving their connections with companies who are open to receive student s for placements. Aston make a strong effort in finding placements for students. They have a really effective process of checking students Cv’s and Cover Letter to ensure they have a good chance of getting placements in place for their upcoming academic year. One area of improvement from the university is for tutors to get more involved in the academic life of students . I as a student can testify that i haven’t been in as much contact with my tutor as necessary. This is because there are no fixed occasions in which i feel the need to speak to my tutor with so many student support available. Aston have a wide range of facilities for thwir students. But i believ one area that thwy lack is a general workshop for students who wish to complete course projects. There was a time when i needed to make candles for my e-business model, but through research and constant communication with the university, i found that the only option available was the student union kitchen to complete this project. However if there was a workshop available , my business idea would have been more efficient.
The location is great with a lot of public transport made available for students and professors. Job opportunities are definitely availableC as employers in Birmingham tend to look for students around the 18-25 range. Diversity is as average as it can get. Not too many of one ethnicity. Many international students populates the campus, with a mix of local students. Safety in Birmingham is all-right, although i would suggest having a friend with you if your out late at night, a lot of drunk people are around Birmingham town, especially at noon, where multiple bars and clubs are open and active.
The opportunities to design a manufacture products and systems during first and second year gave me great experience and knowledge to take into my placement year The IT equipment available isn’t suitable for some of the more memory-intensive computer programmes used in some modules
A blended approach worked well in modules. Having pre-recorded lectures to learn the content in a time that best suited me before applying that knowledge in tutorials worked very well for me. More contact time with the lecturers to solve problems would have been nice, but not essential
Aston University is an all inclusive, very welcoming university. The location is amazing, it’s directly in the city centre. The student support is amazing, they helped me a lot with my problems and my placement year. Overall an amazing university and an amazing level of education. I am very happy to be a student there.
Very well support system. The courses are perfect and very informative. Also the university is very helpful with careers and placement years. They have an amazing system on that. They helped me with my CV countless of times.
Astons new and improved student study space in the main building has been a great help to create a study environment needed for learning. The campus being open and green makes it great for a short little break to walk around. In study spaces it can become loud and messy so perhaps this could be monitored.
The course is great! Really good teaching especially in the final year and the support has been great from all the tutors and lecturers. Could not be happier with my experience of Optometry at Aston. There was an unexpected course fee which I felt should be made more known as this was a large expense. The 2nd year equipment fee should be make very clear on the website I think, so future students know what they’re getting into.
My uni’s location is honestly perfect, it is so close to everything I love it. Everything is walking distance so I can get my steps up and save money! the prime location of Aston is one of the best things about it, close to food, city centre and gyms
University is all about balance, just like a lot of things in life. It is important that one do well in studies however don’t let that be the only focus. Join societies, go to events, play sports, socialize and try to talk to seniors and get their views on various things. University allows us to make very strong connections with fellow students, teachers, and future employers too. It is imperative that I enjoy my time, do not let the teachings go to waste, and make the best out of this unique experience.

I think my unis great and it doesn’t lack in anything
just a little more support from personal tutors
