my Overall university experience has been good. I think this is mostly down to the friends i have made and how close i am with my flat as i'm sure if i didn't have that I would find it must more difficult. Although the course is very hard I am really enjoying it and find it very interesting . the Uni environment is very good and I like spending most of my time.
i personally haven't had any experience in this yet.
very interactive as its a creative subject so the teachers are always around to help. some can seem slightly intimidating especially as a fresher but i think that's to do with the nature and how hard the course is.
I haven't used the student union very much at all however if i ever needed to i would feel very comfortable approaching any of the reps as they seem very nice.
really good, my department especially is very equipt however there is not much spare space in the department when its close to hand in.
yes amazing Location, Close to everything i need and easy to get to uni by the bus.
There is a large range of societies at the uni however because they are all part of BU its frustrating that no AUB students can not compete as part of the team.
good i think however i have never used these resources but i would be comfortable going to them if i needed in the future.
Very positive. First year halls were a little disappointing considering the rent we were being charged, but in terms of the uni; very good in every aspect. I imagine I would feel that paying the amount we are for the course is a bit much if we weren't getting the amount of contact hours that we are.
Tutors have many contacts in industry and support students wanting to find placements. The careers department also has a big presence in our course.
I like the volume of contact hours with the tutors compared to other courses. I least like the uncomfortable seating in the studio, but that is just a nitpick
Good facilites and less visible but apparently decent student representation.
Very good condition, modern and well maintained.
A decent location with good bus connections, but a 20 minute walk to the nearest highstreet.
Not a member of any societies/sports myself, but appears to be a broad range, just none that appeal to me.
Very good. Satisfied with the usefulness of academic feedback and counselling we receive.
Unreal. I knew I would love it but every day I am blown away and still pinch myself that I am lucky enough to study in such an amazing institution. The skills I have learned in my first term have allowed me to progress to working in the industry already. Therefore I am so excited to see where I end up in 2 and a half years time when I graduate.
I have gained more transferable skills than I realised. I now walk onto film shoots with more knowledge and education than industry workers and I'm still an undergraduate. I'm lucky to be part of a small network the university has where AUB students all have mutual respect for each other in the industry. I've found myself employed because of the university I study at which is huge.
The flexibility and industry focus is key for me. Everything we produce is compared, graded and critiqued as if it were in the industry.
Brilliant! They do a great job at engaging, helping and assisting.
Outstanding, professional, above industry. World-class? Probably.
The university is walking distance from a nice town and a short bus ride to the accommodations. Not an issue for me.
Not great...very poor in fact. As an arts university, I did not expect many sports societies. There are plenty of other societies but very niche and not entirely appealing to all.
Feedback, as mentioned is outstanding as you would receive in the industry. Counselling is outstanding and incredibly professional. Whenever I have had an issue and emailed a lecturer regarding it, I have always had a response within the 30 minutes; even late at night (11pm +). And any personal issues have been embraced so well and I have had lecturers checking up on me, meeting me the same day I have an issue. They really care.
I have learnt a lot about myself mostly. I've been quite unfortunate but fortunate at the same time, I've grown up and noticed the real friends from the situational and the false. However, I have definitely made friends for life that I will always greet warmly when I see them. I've developed life skills for budgeting- I mean I'm not great but I'm learning. I have also learnt a lot of tools for my career and I'm just ready now to get out into the industry.
I think there is a drop in careers fair- but its always on during timetabled lessons - which really defeats the point.
I like how open to interpretation they are. We're given a lot of creative freedom and therefore we get a lot of independence. The worst thing is that as a result of the freedom we don't always get feedback till quite late on , and were often not given as much contact time as other acting courses get.
I don't really hear from them much until its election time. They really aren't as vocal as other universities.
They are lovely facilities. Its really modern and its always kept clean.
Yes , it is. It is a little walk to uni but I live just off the high street. For others they have to travel quite far from halls , however I do believe they are now building halls next to campus.
We really don't have many or any that I know of . Its quite upsetting. But I did join Bournemouth University one for my first two years.
There's a real disparity between the two. The counselling can be good but isn't fed back to academic tutors and can be disregarded. Academically its very rare we get a lot due to the nature of our course.
I am in my 3rd year and loving it. Really appreciate all my lectures. I have great friends. Bournemouth is a beautiful town. Lots to do and places to see. I will miss it next year.
Very helpful. They will help with work experience.
I like the diverse range of classes we are taught. I wish we had more space.
Small-Don't know much about it.
Very good. I am very appreciative of it.
Yes. It is only 20 minutes from Uni.
It is much smaller variety to other unis however a good range.
We get lots of support. We are always offered tutorials.
Coming to this university was the best decision of my life. I'm in third year now and I'm extremely sad I have to leave in a few months. I met some amazing people, I learnt so many new things, and i keep learning everyday. It is quite emotional looking back and thinking about all the great memories I have at this place and how lucky i am that i got the opportunity to come to this exact university. I'm grateful i came to this place and this course specifically because it was unforgettable. I wouldn't change a thing about it - the university is amazing, the facilities and tutors everything is made in a way that it is best for the students and everyone makes sure you make the most of your time here!
Throughout the year we get various workshops based on employability, starting our own business, etc. Work placements are also an option but we are also encouraged to contact people ourselves
I love that we are thought how to be independent, work on our own, develop our own ideas (obviously with the help of the tutors but by the third year we get to be more and more independent). That was the thing i didn't like in the beginning because I thought I need someone to tell me what to do but actually turns out to be the best thing about it.
The student union is doing a great job in terms of representing the students as well as making sure they are always there to help
Absolutely amazing! Considering the amount of money we pay it's definitely worth it, especially for the photography department. We get to use cameras, studios and literally any equipment that we could possible think of we have it here. It's amazing that we have access to things that outside the university would be super expensive but we get to use for free.
Yes! Everything is in 10-15min walk and the town centre is 15min bus journey
My university offers a big variety of societies/sports and also allows students to start their own if the one they want is currently not happening (a minimum of 7 people are required to start your own society). We also have the opportunity to join the clubs/sports the other university in town offers.
Amazing! I personally as an international student have never felt left behind or anything like that. Tutors are ALWAYS there to help with anything needed and counselling is provided for anyone that has any problems. The support offered here is absolutely great and it feels like you're one big family.
Well, I haven't been here for too long- but coming from RISD in the US, I am honestly so impressed and excited to continue my studies at AUB. Everything has been so nice from the security guard upon my entrance, the workspaces, and the students. Thank you!
with the career center and student union, I see multiple ways to start my work placement while at uni.
I like how the tutorials are somewhat self directed and that every Friday I have a 1-2-1 with my tutor. At my old school we did eight hour critiques to sit and watch all other "1-2-1" and that was interesting, but less productive and honest.
The leaders of the student union are accessible, helpful, and enthusiastic, not sure what more we could want!!
The facilities are innovative, safe, and enjoyable.
It is a bus ride but the buses are very user friendly and run on consistent schedules,
There is so much to do I like how some sports are taken seriously and then there are societies like the "bad movies club"
I am an international student and Georgina and Kay in the international offices have been exceptionally helpful throughout every step of the process.
My university experience has been intense and stressful but it has also been very fun and it has been great to experience so many different things with my course. The course has helped me open up my horizons more for my portfolio and helped me with different career opportunities.
The careers fairs that are held are very helpful for me and if I have troubles with the career paths that I want to take after university.
The support for students is brilliant and I like that the tutors are always willing to help and listen with any queries that we have.
It's also very good.
I think they're great, there are alot of facilities that are helpful with my projects.
It's alright. My accommodation is a few minutes away but it's not a problem because of the unibus services.
It's very good. I have yet to go to the counselling but the support for our wellbeing feels very assuring for those who need the help.
I've enjoyed my time at university but I've come to a point where I'm mostly excited to graduate and finally be able to apply all my learnings in my future career.
I know the university invests a lot in it, however, I've never really looked for career opportunities.
Like the most : tutors Like the least : how some of the courses are planned
I think it's great to have a student union on campus
I don't know as I don't take part of any of these activities.
Good. Personal help when i needed it Good accommodation amazing friends made good feedback supportive course made the most of clubs and societies made the most of location
career opportunities lectures, seminars and guest speakers, a full time employability officer. we NEED more Eurasmus programmes, i would have done it if there were appropriate locations and work placements are needed for my course but not allowed
Tutor time is high Technical workshops, guest lectures low No work placement opportunities does not move with the time fast enough based on interviews with high profile photographers in the industry
pretty great for representation but facilities are extremely limited
small student centre with not enough working space for number of students but pretty decent course facilities
yes, close to everything you need with great bus routes, cycle lanes, beach and forests BUT NO MOUNTAINS DAMN IT
Awesome. I can join any of Bournemouth university clubs and societies (limited in the committee positions though) meaning i have access to hundreds
amazing personal support pretty damn good academic but i am working in a niche filed in photography where none of the lecturers have a great deal of knowledge that is applicable to me regarding feedback for my own work.
