Oaklands College

The college is a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. However , during my last course at the college I became increasingly frustrated by the lack of support from several teachers. My main teacher decided to bunk off of our lessons and just left us to it. Not exactly the sort of thing you need when trying to study for your future career!

Wolverhampton University is a multi ethnic place of study. There are more asians at the main campus. More of white and european students at the Walsall campus. Not sure about the telford campus. Walsall campus is much quieter than the main campus. If you find the walsall campus library too noisy than walsall campus is best. The food is nice and prices are reasonable. Lectures vary from 2-3 hour slots per module with a 15-20 min break in between. Was very tiring at first but you get used to it. Tutors are friendly, they understand your circumstances and needs. I had to study 6 modules. I studied 3 in sept-dec and 3 in jan-may. 2 year long modules and 4 short modules. Everyone is helpful and students and staff will help you if you ever get lost or need to ask something. All in all a good uni but night life is abit quiet. Campus buses are really helpful with a free bus ride to town and to and from each campus. (All you need is your student id card). There were not many clubs and societies I had hoped there would be. Job prospects in wolverhampton are abit low. Plenty of places to go shopping in wolverhampton. B'ham bullring is pretty near if you get a bus ride to walsall campus.

Anglia Ruskin University

Bad Choice for PGCE!The level of student satisfaction with the course is extremely low be aware. I list my experience in 2013 with them. The course started okay and the teachers and lecturers seemed friendly enough just one small problem when you start is that there is about 200 people on the course so if you do study here make sure you do something special to get noticed. As I've said the lecturers were friendly and willing to help you if you speak to them the problems are with the administration. Firstly about 1/4 of the cohort were not given their first placement in time meaning they had to catch up the days required in the first break for uni. Then they did not correct this by placement b some student teachers were so worried about this they arranged their own placement; this is a scary moment if you don't have connections in a school for your placement.Yet even with these shortcomings I was going to let it go the final straw for me was this: I was one of the unfortunate soles to get placed late so I needed to submit my assignment on July 12 - I printed the cover sheet

Someone, somewhere, someday said "Here's a field in the middle of nowhere, you know what we could put here? A university!" Musselburgh is a decent walk away and you will spend a fortune in travel to and from uni into Edinburgh (a taxi after a night out is at least £15).Campus accommodation is alright. It's decent price, relatively flexible rules. While the rooms aren't big, they thought out storage very well when building it. And your en-suite bathroom? Don't get too excited: you genuinely can use the toilet and shower at the same time. Half of the flats are empty most of the year so it's great fun for hide and seek/giant sleepovers.Student Union is ridiculously expensive for drinks and most of their events are . . . slightly less than successful.Societies are extremely popular at freshers, but slowly everyone realises how bad they are and you'll find your 21 year old male friends being coaxed into cheerleading as there is no one else on the team.QMU was voted 4th worst uni to get laid at. Officially. the latest stats were 800girls- 200guys.Everyone is Irish. This one was a rumour, but I heard that more than 700of people who graduated PR

University of Winchester

Politics and Global Studies BA (Hons)

University rating (4)

My Course (Politics) was fantastic, I had such great support from the lecturers and still keep in touch now.The small lecture sizes (only 30 in my whole year) meant that I got to know all of my coursemates well and it meant that the lectures were more interactive and less formal, which helped with learning no end.Winchester is a small University, and this has it's upsides and downsides. It is small enough to not get lost and it means you are guaranteed to see people you know on a night out. The downside is that it limits the number of new people you can meet, and the lack of nightclubs is something that will eventually annoy you.
