What students say about telecommunications-engineering

The lectures in my course are very helpful and always get back to you when you have questions. We have good weeks timetabling where we have online lessons and in person and we start at a nice time as well which gives people time to travel. Our lectures give us PowerPoints which we can also look at when at home for more revision. The university is big and is a couple bus stops from train stations which is helpful as well. There is lots of places to get food and they have a wide variety of things.

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

Best: well-rounded, educated lecturers that are enthusiastic about contributing to our learning; lots of societies providing opportunities Worst: assessors for written assignments and PBL tutors tend to not give a level playing field for marking/educating - we don't get taught exactly the same things as the rest of our cohort, it is tutor dependent (PBL, clinical skills, etc)

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

The university itself is very modern and clean. The law building in particular is very well maintained and a nice place to study. The student support line is effective and most queries are responded to however some are forgotten/ responded to weeks later. The library is extreamly useful with a wide range of text books and other resources which makes finding sources very easy. There are also lots of other study areas outside of the library which means you can always find a quiet place to sit and work. The surrounding area of Newcastle City has just about anything you could want, with it being just a 5 minute walk from campus you have easy access to shops, transport and other facilities. The only issue with this is for home students which might be travelling by car. I live in the countryside and have no access to busses or metro stations. This means that driving is my only option. Car parking is very limited and expensive. Almost all of the public car parks fill up past 8am and a full day of parking can cost upwards of £14. The university car park requires a yearly pass which costs £700 up front. This is just not manageable as a student to pay up front. Other than that I have had no issues with the university. They are also very inclusive with disabled students. Having a disability myself, they have taken the correct steps to ensure I have no disadvantages compared to abled bodied students and are well aware of the steps which should be taken when I have an episode. Everybody, down to the woman working the cafe on campus, went above and beyond to help me when I did have an episode. The situation was very stressful but the actions of the staff were brilliant and did everything they could. I have a lot of praise for Northumbria University and would recommend it to all students looking to pick a University.

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

What makes my uni a great place to study is their student support. They try to help their students in any way possible to ensure that students get the best out of their education. I think it would be better if the university put more effort into societies and clubs such as sporting clubs and teams . It would help the university to have more of a community and really showcase other talents other than what students already study on their courses. My university do have societies and some sporting teams, however some of the societies don’t run anymore and it’s not made to be as big as it was when I first heard about it before I joined uni. I think it’s important to have that feel of community and university culture and to also show the inclusiveness of different cultures, groups and activities in which people associate them selves with.

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

Really great university. LSE has such a vibrant international atmosphere, and it’s location in the center of London gives you so many options! Something that stands out about LSE are the incredible opportunities given to students to attend all sorts of conferences and events that are so useful in your growth as an academic and professional. The community at LSE is so unique, it is so diverse and supportive. I recommend LSE very highly to anyone considering.

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

The location in central London not far from where the UKs decisions are made is amazing. The library has most of the resources I need and if you can’t find something the library staff will happily try and make it available. The thing where the uni lets us down the most is admin.

What students say about telecommunications-engineering

I love all the student deals. However, I feel like many of the student activity processes could be streamlined as it seems so overwhelming as a foreigner/first-year. Like, having to book a ticket, but then still waiting in line or an event being overbooked via ticketing that people are dissuaded to come. Then, when the event takes place, the ticket holders don’t even come.
