Best aspects: The university offers a supportive learning environment with approachable, knowledgeable lecturers and engaging course content that links theory to real-world practice. There is a strong sense of community among students, and access to learning resources is very good. Areas for improvement: Communication around deadlines, placements, and administrative processes could be clearer and more consistent. Earlier information and more streamlined systems would help reduce stress and improve the overall student experience.

The careers team is amazing at posting job listings. They are so proactive in getting you the right support and I love that about them. And I think the structure of some teaching material could be improved with bringing the right balance of AI into studies

Kingston university has a great vibe! All of the tutors and members of staff are very friendly and supportive, even if you’re not on their specific course! I’ve found it easy to make friends, and the location has helped a lot with this! As being an art student, I’ve been able to frequently visit galleries in London by short train journey - whilst also being able to experience the serene and quiet nature surrounding Kingston and Richmond. I really love that art school and all of the different workshops there are - however the one improvement would be to have our own personal spaces on the course (somewhere we can leave our artwork/ a space to make our own)! It’s been a bit of a struggle have to haul all of my art projects from the uni to my apartment and back - especially during the winter months when it’s rainy and cold, and I know some many other students have found issues with this too. Other than that though, I think the uni is great!

All staff in university is eager to help you with any kind of questions or problems. At lectures teachers are really engaging and supportive. You never notice how quick time flies during lectures. Especially, before any assignments you are given every detail about it, so you are well prepared and not scared at all. Birkbeck suggests a lot of opportunities for busy social life, where you can meet lots of enthusiastic people, and opportunities for future career such as additional workshops, professional guests, etc. I love being a part of this community!

The Students’ Union plays an important role in making campus life enjoyable. They organise events, clubs, and societies that help students socialise, develop hobbies, and take breaks from academic pressure. From cultural celebrations to academic workshops and sports activities, the SU offers something for everyone. It also supports student welfare and actively listens to student concerns. While my experience has been largely positive, there are a few areas that could be improved to make the university experience even better. Administrative processes, such as timetabling or enrollment updates, can sometimes be slow or unclear. Improved communication and faster responses would make things easier for students, especially during busy periods like the start of term. Additionally, although the accommodations are comfortable and close to campus, they can be quite expensive because of the London location. More affordable housing options would be very helpful for students on a tight budget. Lastly, while LSBU already hosts a number of events, increasing the number of career-oriented workshops, industry meetups, and networking sessions would make a big difference. These events help students make valuable connections and understand the professional world more deeply. Overall, London South Bank University offers a strong combination of academic support, practical teaching, modern facilities, and an excellent central London location. The friendly atmosphere, diversity, and active student life create a positive and motivating environment for learning. With a few improvements in communication and affordability, the university could provide an even better experience. Despite those small areas for development, LSBU remains a great place to study, grow, and prepare for future opportunities
