Great social life, good options for student societies, a lot of student support. A lot of professionals teaching on the course and it gave me exactly what I wanted for my career progression into genetics

The university itself is very modern and clean. The law building in particular is very well maintained and a nice place to study. The student support line is effective and most queries are responded to however some are forgotten/ responded to weeks later. The library is extreamly useful with a wide range of text books and other resources which makes finding sources very easy. There are also lots of other study areas outside of the library which means you can always find a quiet place to sit and work. The surrounding area of Newcastle City has just about anything you could want, with it being just a 5 minute walk from campus you have easy access to shops, transport and other facilities. The only issue with this is for home students which might be travelling by car. I live in the countryside and have no access to busses or metro stations. This means that driving is my only option. Car parking is very limited and expensive. Almost all of the public car parks fill up past 8am and a full day of parking can cost upwards of £14. The university car park requires a yearly pass which costs £700 up front. This is just not manageable as a student to pay up front. Other than that I have had no issues with the university. They are also very inclusive with disabled students. Having a disability myself, they have taken the correct steps to ensure I have no disadvantages compared to abled bodied students and are well aware of the steps which should be taken when I have an episode. Everybody, down to the woman working the cafe on campus, went above and beyond to help me when I did have an episode. The situation was very stressful but the actions of the staff were brilliant and did everything they could. I have a lot of praise for Northumbria University and would recommend it to all students looking to pick a University.

Best aspect: amazing facilities, highly professional tutors and staffs, everyone seems to have good heads on their shoulders. High teaching standard and it's nice meeting people from other cultural settlements. Worst aspect: more of a recommendation, extracurricular activities to establish a better inculcation, especially for foreign students. For instance, city tour for foreign students, debates, sports etc, this will facilitate better friendship between students

The focused student support is what makes it stand out. Because in the university there are not a lot of students and attention of the professor doesnt get divided. You can get personalised guidance and this thing is gold to grab more and more opportunities in your career.

i love the community - societies are great, i love how i’ve met so many people and get to do a course i love, the worst aspect is maybe how many days were in as it doesn’t see very worth it and facilities/resources for art students as we got £150 from an exhibition last year and they kept the money for “resources” however we’ve not seen any

I have enjoyed my study here at Richmond. The other reviews listed here are talking about the old campus which I didn't experience, but now the school has moved to Chiswick Business Park which is very modern and clean. The school is in one building which is easy to navigate, however its pretty small and sometimes its hard to find study spaces on busy days. The Fashion teachers are very credible and knowledgable as many of them also teach at London College of Fashion and the University of the Arts London. I can't speak on other majors, but all of my fashion teachers were lovely and easy to get in touch with about fashion internships around London. The student accommodation offered was great, the only con was that it was far from campus, but in terms of London life it was a good location to get around the city.

My university experience has been a beautifully chaotic mix of triumph, growth, accidental naps in public spaces, and one too many “Why did I think this degree was a good idea?” moments. If I had to sum it up, I’d say it was like a Netflix coming-of-age series—heartwarming, occasionally dramatic, full of plot twists, and somehow always involving coffee. The best parts of uni? First, the people. I met friends who have seen me at my best, my worst, and my “submitting an assignment at 11:59:59 while whisper-screaming” phase. These are the people who would quiz me on lecture notes, drag me out for fresh air when I hadn’t seen sunlight in 36 hours, and celebrate every academic victory like I’d just won an Olympic medal in Essay Writing. The sense of community made even the messiest days feel survivable. Then there were the opportunities—actual grown-up opportunities that made me feel like a functioning human in society. Internships, academic projects, workshops, and random events I only went to for free snacks but ended up loving. Uni showed me I could push myself further than I ever thought… mostly because deadlines pushed me first. I also grew in ways that aren’t on any transcript. I became more confident, more independent, and significantly better at pretending I understood what was happening in group projects (spoiler: I did not). I learned how to balance life, work, study, and sleep—which, yes, is a fancy way of saying sleep often lost, but the effort was there. And the worst parts? Oh, where to begin. Let’s start with the Academic Black Holes: those weeks where every possible assignment, exam, quiz, project, and presentation happened at the exact same time, like they were conspiring to test both my GPA and my will to live. My diet during those periods was 80% caffeine, 20% hope. Group projects also deserve an honorary award for emotionally preparing me for the real world. Nothing teaches conflict resolution like trying to diplomatically explain to a teammate that they cannot, in fact, submit a blank slide and call it “minimalist design.” Then there’s the financial struggle—because nothing screams adulthood like paying for textbooks that you use once and then become very expensive doorstops. My bank account and I have been through things together. And yes, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t moments of doubt. Times when I questioned my major, my abilities, my life choices, or the fact that I signed up for an 8 a.m. lecture even though I am biologically incompatible with mornings. But here’s the thing: Even the worst moments ended up shaping the best version of me. The stress taught me resilience. The failures taught me humility. The chaotic nights taught me time management (eventually). And the uncomfortable experiences pushed me to grow in ways I never expected. In the end, uni wasn’t perfect—but it was meaningful, hilarious, challenging, and unforgettable. It gave me memories I’ll laugh about for years, skills I’ll actually use, and friendships I’ll keep forever. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything… except maybe lower tuition.
