The Students Union is honestly the best part of the University of Sheffield. With over 300 societies, you're sure to find something to your liking. Apart from that, the university has great facilities and the Diamond (engineering building) has anything you could ever need. 10/10 uni.

The University of Essex is extremely international with students from 140 different countries. As an international students this makes me have a sense of community as there are a lot of students going through the same situations as me. The university also has a students union on the Top 10 in the UK. The students union is extremely active organising several events on the same day from arts and crafts, Thursday food markets, movie nights and much more. There is also the sport teams and gym on campus that students can join but to be honest as someone that does not like fiscal activity this are some facilities that I do not use often. The students union also advertises part time jobs for students which is very helpful as you can work around your studies and still make some extra cash and get some work experience. The library section for PG students is open 24/7 which is very handy when you are pulling an all-nighter. Students can also rent for free an individual study pod or a group study room. The reading for the modules are mostly online and free to access on the library website. There are computers all around the university that students can access at any time of the day to study or do some Python coding assignments in my case. I am part of the EBS department and all the academics are very helpful, you can always email with questions and they are quite quick in responding. The lectures are small which means you can have debates in class and also gives the teacher the opportunity to get to meet all the students an be able to help them with their specific needs. The teachers also have specific academic office hours on a weekly bases that students can attend if they which to discuss something in private or even if they want to continue discussing topics from lectures in depth. There are a number of talks organised by the departments where students can listen from industry professionals and get the chance to get to know more on how they should approach job applications to get into the industry. The university has the Languages for all programme where students can learn a new language for free, in my case I am learning Mandarin. So far I am still very green and I still not understand much but it it a fabulous language and it is quiet fun to draw the characters. There is a lot of societies students can join and get to meet new people. I myself am part of the Economics Society and the Women in Finance Society. So far we had events to meet up all the members but I know we are going to have an event with an external speaker to talk about training and also there is going to be a winter ball from the economics society, and lost more events that I am still not aware off. The university has a lot of green spaces, two lakes and it is amazing to go for a walk when there is no rain. We also have a 4 star hotel on campus where students can get discounts on their services. The university is only 30 minutes in the fast train form the central London which is very good to go out for a shopping day. Now the not so good part, I have to say the careers team that helps students with their CV gives very general advice and each student wants to apply to different industries and so we need specific advice and I do not think there are equipped for that. The Well-being Team even thought they can help lease with the departments if students need help, they are still not helpful as for example you have right to only two therapy sessions and sometimes I found that they do not respond to emails quickly and during my undergrad that I did at Essex as well I had one therapy session from the university at the campus and no one was there to receive me. Overall I think the university is very great, they have a great student community and for most topics they are ranked very high. I recommend attending an Open Day to check the campus and talk with students to see if Essex is for you.

I love the campus and the atmosphere we have. its a beautiful place to study and i have enjoyed my time here. All the staff are wonderful, I have a brilliant supervisors and enjoy my course. I have learnt a lot whilst at Lancaster However, i find that the student union is broken, it does not uphold its own beliefs. The societies may work but the actual student union body is useless. it needs and overhall, and needs attention brought to the actions of the staff and how people follow their regulations.

All the staff are very friendly and the course is well organised. It would be nice to have more chill study spots of campus, more coffee shops. Also it would be nice to have more rooms available to book for student group study

With the SMT once again announcing a detrimental restructure to the university, roughly around 300 teaching staff are being threatened with redundancies if they are viewed as not making a 'valuable' contribution to Goldsmiths. A vast majority of departments have been threatened with teaching and module cuts, including English, once again. It is ironic that they are saying they want to make back/ save around 20 million, yet they are looking to have an AI centre whilst neglecting the humanities departments that reside at the very heart of Goldsmiths. They do not have much care for practising free speech on campus as the SMT wanted to 'arrest' the group of us that had 1.) occupied a building on campus in protest against the way the university has conducted their weak response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine and 2.) those that actually took part in the protests that occurred on campus. How can you label your university as a 'creative powerhouse' and a 'melting pot' of ideas when you've conducted yourself in such a backward manner? The welfare team has little regard for you. I had applied for a hardship bursary, yet I was met with a foodbank voucher that could only be used on the week it was issued and for a place that was miles away from accom and only open for 4 hours on a Friday. Do not come to this uni if you are seeking a place that values academic integrity and the preservation of your course; alongside your welfare as a student. It's a shock that they can even call themselves an institution.

Great buildings and location with great transport links to major cities. Being taught by people who are the best in that field and being able to contribute to their research at an early time in your studies. The tutorial system with very few people in classes making learning much more interactive.

Best - Classes and societies. I feel such passion from staff and the societies are so broad and fun! Worst - Transport and times. I rely on trains so some lessons become difficult to attend due to the trains.

The staff and students around the campus are always so welcoming and friendly. It really makes me enjoy where I’m studying. I think something that could be improved is the university’s response to student based issues.

Durham is a beautiful city and university with great social opportunities. The traditions are very strong at this school. It feels today like how Oxford and Cambridge were twenty years ago. Sometimes administration can be a challenge, many people have difficulty in knowing how to pay tuition and the university is slow to respond to emails. Also, there are far too many international students and just students in general. The university’s expansion plans are causing a drop in the school’s national and international rankings and causing the university to be in danger of losing its character.

I like how everything is on campus, convenient, I love the study spaces available at varying levels of quietness. The student union is cheap but could do with a bit of updating. I like the assessments we are given, a variety like presentations and essays writing blogs however the feedback could be more informative. I definitely miss home more than I thought so I wish I had chosen a closer uni most of my friends are off campus which makes the weekends and evenings lonely.
