What students say about science

In my opinion, SOAS is a great place to study because of its global focus on the Middle East, its cultural and linguistic diversity, and its amazing library resources. As a student who studies Global Media, it is a tremendous opportunity, but it could be improved with more stronger career support, and beneficial financial assistance for students.

Excellent quality of teaching and a wide range of modules available. Glad I chose this university over Imperial College MPH. The campus itself is well located but a lot of the rooms are in the basement and the lecture theatres are cramped!

The lectures in my course are very helpful and always get back to you when you have questions. We have good weeks timetabling where we have online lessons and in person and we start at a nice time as well which gives people time to travel. Our lectures give us PowerPoints which we can also look at when at home for more revision. The university is big and is a couple bus stops from train stations which is helpful as well. There is lots of places to get food and they have a wide variety of things.

What students say about science

One of the best parts of studying at Roehampton University is the friendly and supportive environment. The lecturers explain topics clearly and are always willing to help when students have questions. The campus is peaceful, with good facilities like the library, study rooms, and social spaces, which makes it a comfortable place to learn. I also enjoy meeting classmates from different countries and backgrounds because it helps me learn new ideas and understand different cultures. The teaching style at Roehampton makes learning easier and more enjoyable. Seminars and group activities help me understand the lessons better, and the coursework is practical, helping me connect what I learn to real-life situations. I feel that the university encourages students to think independently and build confidence. Overall, I feel supported in my studies, and this has helped me grow both academically and personally. Even though my experience has been positive, there are some areas that could improve. Sometimes the workload feels heavy, especially when deadlines are close together. Communication about certain tasks or readings can be unclear at times. More career support, part-time job opportunities, and more flexible timetables would also make things easier for students. However, these challenges are common in most universities, and Roehampton still offers a good overall student experience.

What students say about science

The best part of my experience has been the practical approach to learning and the diverse student community, which made it easy to meet people and gain different perspectives. The course helped me build useful, real-world skills. On the downside, some areas could be better organised, and communication at times could be improved. Overall, it’s been a valuable and enriching experience.

Bristol, UWE

What students say about science

What makes it a great place to study? UWE Bristol is a great place to study nursing because of its strong focus on practical learning and real-world experience. The placement opportunities help build confidence and prepare students for working in healthcare settings. The lecturers are supportive and knowledgeable, and the facilities, such as simulation suites, help develop clinical skills in a safe environment. It also has a good, friendly environment which makes students feel comfortable and supported throughout their studies. How could it be improved? The university could improve by providing clearer guidance and support for international students, especially when they first arrive. Having more detailed information about academic expectations, placements, and daily student life would make the transition easier. Clearer communication and step-by-step guidance would help international students feel more confident and settled.

The University of Law

I really enjoyed my academic experience at the University of Law so far. I love the location and the support they offer for students. I wish we had student halls, but hopefully this will be implemented in the future. There are lots of events at uni, but I wish they happened more frequently. I met some amazing people in class and I am looking forward to the next years!

The best aspects are that the teachers are helpful and experienced and so it helps with learning, however there could be more help with exam resources such as more practice questions for the exam to get the most support

GREATER LONDON

What students say about science

Worst is the limited contact time with professors. It feels really rushed which is unfortunate because there is so much to discover here and it becomes stressful when we feel like cattle who must be rushed in and out. The university itself is fantastic though. It’s incredibly inspiring to walk through the workshops, lecture halls, and library- it feels like you’re in the center of the world. Everything is state of the art and the staff is phenomenal. I just wish they cut less corners in terms of students’ ability to engage with it all.
