What students say about psychotherapy

Best part was deffinately the student life event throughout the year, the general staff, making me feel at home and having genuinly good event that are interesting, other then that, the teachers, the accommodation and everything else was really nice. One bad thing that i'd want to mention was, the difficulty of studies, even tho it was first year, coming from a strict system like A levels to an easy going slow burn education system was weird, and the tests were loosely checked for cheating or anything like that, made it really hard to genuinly study and take it seriously enough to the point i was expecting from uni. Still, thats just a culture shock going from a levels to uni first year. All and all, the full experience was so good that, the worst thing was "it wasn't hard enough"

The campus is absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful mix of old and new, castles and modern buildings. Reserving rooms encourages students to get out of their rooms and study anywhere on campus, from the top of the castle tower, to the communal "pods" at Commons. The Student Union building has a bar and a small shop, and activities going on almost every day. Karaoke every other Saturday is one of my favourites. Close enough to the city of Bath for easy access, while still having the feeling of a university town. Lots of student discounts and student bars/clubs in town, as the University of Bath is also nearby. Interesting classes, lovely lecturers and guest lecturers, and proper assessments. Few, if not none, tests, allowing for those who do not thrive with simple memorization to show off how they learn. The diversity of students encourages the broadening of your own world view. A wide range of courses, allowing for study into incredibly specific topics. The main issue with the university is the wait time for wellbeing appointments, as it can take up to four months to even get a foot in the door. This means that if you do need help, it is very difficult to achieve. Also, while it isn't the university's fault, it is important to know that the First Bus system is not very reliable, so if you have a job in town, it is quite nerve-wracking.

Gorgeous location which works well for its specialisms. Library has a good amount of specialist books but doesn't have much access for online publications. I have to use my alumni access from my undergrad Uni. Some buildings are shared with the 6th form and the college students do leave mess everywhere (we know its them because the Uni buildings aren't a tip). Halls of residence are dated and overpriced but the convenience of not having to get the shuttle bus is good. Shuttle bus from Gloucester to Campus (or vice versa) is £3 single so it adds up quickly. Service is always on time but isn't always at the most convenient times. No financial hardship support for postgraduate students. Seems to be no support for international trips such as Turing funding. I did email them about it but no response soooooo.... Not much student life stuff going on, only a handful of societies and they're just sports really. Plus as it's a sporty Uni it's not for casuals.

Plymouth Marjon University

What students say about psychotherapy

Marjon has a really strong community feel, and its smaller size is a big part of that. There’s a genuine mix of ages and interests, which comes through in the range of activities and spaces available — the Students’ Union, chapel, theatre, and sports centre are all close together and easy to access. If anything could improve, it would be greater financial support at a wider level (e.g., government funding), so the university could invest in hiring more staff and strengthening provision further.
