Property Development and Management postgraduate degrees

I really enjoy having a walk around the farm and taking part in farm skills sessions. The lecturers explain the topics in a way which is easy to understand and they make the sessions interesting and fun for us. We are currently doing our team challenge module and I think this is a great way for us to make new friends and communicate with people we haven’t necessarily spoken to before this. There are loads of on and off campus activities you can do and the student support is amazing, things like the library and the report advisors have helped me so much so far throughout my studies. I do struggle with the timetable as it changes each week and each day, I do believe this is down to being on the foundation year however I do find it extremely difficult to work part time around uni as I often finish at different times each day. For example one Monday I could finish at 11 and the next I could finish at 6. This therefore makes it difficult to explain to employers my availability.

At a PGR level, it is more autonomous, but it is still quite a cohesive experience if you choose to engage. The uni does well for the course, there is a direct connection to industry and affinity towards making it practical. The student support could be enhanced especially at a PGR level. It's less cohort and needs more attention at a more unit-level, which I imagine is difficult to engage. It is a halfway house between student and staff, so a bit more attention to either side (or preferably both) would really enhance the experience.

best part would be the sense of community, from easily making friendships to the lecturers being welcoming and happy to help. worst aspects are few, but i would say the prices of the shop, cafe and bar on campus are quite high, especially for students. it makes me less likely to buy from them.

Uni of Reading has a really nice campus with plenty of green space and is in a nice area of Reading that is a short walk to town, student housing is also right next to campus so easy to do for second and third year. Has a really nice library thats great for getting work done and Wednesday night union on campus is great. Accommodation on and off campus is very expensive however and in general student life is more expensive here that at other unis.

Best aspects of studying Psychology at NTU: One of the strongest aspects is how structured and career-focused the course is. The teaching staff are generally approachable and knowledgeable, and many have practical or research experience that they bring into lectures and seminars. Another highlight is the range of resources available. NTU provides good access to online journals, research databases, and study spaces, which is especially useful for assignments and dissertations. The course also gradually builds your research skills, particularly in statistics and methods, which are essential for psychology but often difficult—NTU tends to scaffold this learning quite well. The campus environment is also a plus. It’s modern, well-maintained, and has a supportive atmosphere. There are plenty of societies and opportunities to get involved, which helps balance academic work with social life. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: A common challenge is the heavy focus on statistics and research methods, which can feel overwhelming—especially if you don’t have a strong maths background. While support is available, it can sometimes feel fast-paced, and not everyone finds the teaching style in this area accessible. Another downside is that feedback on assignments can occasionally be inconsistent or not detailed enough to clearly guide improvement. This can make it harder to understand how to progress between grades. Some lectures, particularly in larger modules, can feel quite impersonal due to class size. More interactive or discussion-based sessions would improve engagement and deepen understanding. Finally, like many psychology degrees, there can be a gap between theory and hands-on experience. More placement opportunities or practical exposure (e.g., working with clients or in applied settings) would make the course even stronger for those planning careers in mental health or applied psychology. Durham is a beautiful city and university with great social opportunities. The traditions are very strong at this school. It feels today like how Oxford and Cambridge were twenty years ago. Sometimes administration can be a challenge, many people have difficulty in knowing how to pay tuition and the university is slow to respond to emails. Also, there are far too many international students and just students in general. The university’s expansion plans are causing a drop in the school’s national and international rankings and causing the university to be in danger of losing its character.
