One of the best parts of studying at Roehampton University is the friendly and supportive environment. The lecturers explain topics clearly and are always willing to help when students have questions. The campus is peaceful, with good facilities like the library, study rooms, and social spaces, which makes it a comfortable place to learn. I also enjoy meeting classmates from different countries and backgrounds because it helps me learn new ideas and understand different cultures. The teaching style at Roehampton makes learning easier and more enjoyable. Seminars and group activities help me understand the lessons better, and the coursework is practical, helping me connect what I learn to real-life situations. I feel that the university encourages students to think independently and build confidence. Overall, I feel supported in my studies, and this has helped me grow both academically and personally. Even though my experience has been positive, there are some areas that could improve. Sometimes the workload feels heavy, especially when deadlines are close together. Communication about certain tasks or readings can be unclear at times. More career support, part-time job opportunities, and more flexible timetables would also make things easier for students. However, these challenges are common in most universities, and Roehampton still offers a good overall student experience.

My initial reasons for joining were simple. I was drawn to the community; on my open day, I saw a diverse range of people and felt it was a place where the average person from a working-class background could feel comfortable and part of something. I also loved the university's layout. It's tremendously large, with a charming little interior garden and various communal spaces. At times, it felt almost too big, but over the years, I turned finding its many hidden corners into a personal game. And let's not forget the labs—incredibly huge and spacious, yet still cozy. I remember late winter afternoons, running a routine reaction while staring out the massive windows. In those moments, everything felt tranquil and perfectly in place. However, that was just the beginning. The real reason the undergraduate Chemistry program at London Met is so great is the academic staff. Their dedication, the time they invest, and the lengths to which they will go to help you are absolutely unparalleled. You aren't just a number or another face; you are someone they look after. They share every opportunity with you—bursaries, placements, training, and so on—constantly pushing you in the right direction and enabling you to collect achievements throughout the short journey of your BSc. It isn't always easy; there will be moments of stress, anxiety, and insecurity, but remember that everyone is there to help you succeed.

The location in central London not far from where the UKs decisions are made is amazing. The library has most of the resources I need and if you can’t find something the library staff will happily try and make it available. The thing where the uni lets us down the most is admin.

The university provides modern labs, well-equipped classrooms, and industry-standard facilities that help students gain real-world experience. For many courses, practical sessions, workshops, and hands-on projects make learning more engaging and directly relevant to future careers. This practical approach is one of the main reasons LSBU graduates are well-prepared for the workforce. The location is also a huge advantage. Being in Central London means students have easy access to internships, part-time jobs, networking events, and professional opportunities. Public transport links around the campus are excellent, which makes commuting simple and convenient. Additionally, studying in such a vibrant, diverse city exposes you to many cultures and experiences that broaden your perspective and personal growth. LSBU is also known for its diversity. Students come from many different backgrounds and countries, creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. Interacting with a wide range of people enriches both academic and social life, and helps build strong communication skills and global awareness. The Students’ Union plays an important role in making campus life enjoyable. They organise events, clubs, and societies that help students socialise, develop hobbies, and take breaks from academic pressure. From cultural celebrations to academic workshops and sports activities, the SU offers something for everyone. It also supports student welfare and actively listens to student concerns. While my experience has been largely positive, there are a few areas that could be improved to make the university experience even better. Administrative processes, such as timetabling or enrollment updates, can sometimes be slow or unclear. Improved communication and faster responses would make things easier for students, especially during busy periods like the start of term. Additionally, although the accommodations are comfortable and close to campus, they can be quite expensive because of the London location. More affordable housing options would be very helpful for students on a tight budget. Lastly, while LSBU already hosts a number of events, increasing the number of career-oriented workshops, industry meetups, and networking sessions would make a big difference. These events help students make valuable connections and understand the professional world more deeply. Overall, London South Bank University offers a strong combination of academic support, practical teaching, modern facilities, and an excellent central London location. The friendly atmosphere, diversity, and active student life create a positive and motivating environment for learning. With a few improvements in communication and affordability, the university could provide an even better experience. Despite those small areas for development, LSBU remains a great place to study, grow, and prepare for future opportunities
