The SU has loads of amazing events and is a lovely place aesthetically. There are gorgeous seasonal plants around campus such as snowdrops, crocuses and lavender. It’s a small uni so it’s easy to get in touch with tutors and to build relationships with staff who understand the way you work. It’s easy to set up a society and there are many already in existence running throughout the week. They run such fun events and make it really accessible to find a community and create a social life, though it can be lonely for the first part of first year. It’s also a really central campus so it’s easy to pop into town, there is a GP on campus too and we graduate in the Minster ! There are sometimes communication issues which could be improved such a confusion around class start/end times, which classes are mandatory or not and also the student course events such as exhibitions and showcases don’t have a great platform yet for people to find out about them. Cross course collaboration could be improved

I like inclusion that everyone is equal and part of university and there is relaxation about stuff like assignments and fees. Teachers also collaborate alot. Worst thing is lack of events. There should be more events

Based on my time here, the University of Huddersfield is an excellent choice if you're looking for a career-focused degree and a supportive learning environment. The standout feature is definitely the teaching quality, backed by the Gold TEF rating, as nearly all my lecturers were genuine experts who were passionate and approachable. The modern, compact campus is a big plus—everything is central, from the state-of-the-art library (great during exam season!) to the specialist labs, and the fact that Huddersfield itself is a really affordable student town makes a huge difference. While the local nightlife might not rival a big city like Manchester, the focus on practical skills, the strong emphasis on industry placements, and the overall sense of community made my experience highly rewarding and put me in a great position for my career.

This is my 2nd week studying at UOM I’d say the best aspect of uni experience so far is being welcomed as an international student got lots of support academically and personally. Worst maybe the lectures are more of self taught which is fine as I’m doing a postgraduate degree.
