What students say about nursing-specialisms

The support from university and staff has been amazing! Teaching is outstanding and great facilities. Only downfall is Aberdeens student life and location, the campuses aren’t very close together for people who rely on public transport . I find being a driver just as hard due to lack of parking and costs. £5.75+ per day to park adds up a lot for someone who doesn’t come from a wealthy family.

What students say about nursing-specialisms

Everything about uni has been good, only downside is not having enough study space/seating in communal areas. It can be extremely difficult at times to find a place to sit and do some work between classes or even on days off.

The university has a great capability to translate academic research into practice, especially in life sciences area. The Institute of Biomedical Sciences has experimental cancer medicines manufacturing unit that in cooperation with Cancer Research UK is generating a great impact by introducing new innovative and personalized medicines for cancer care.

What students say about nursing-specialisms

UHI is a fantastic university for distance learning courses. The support that they provide is assuring, teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, and the intended learning outcomes are very clearly outlined from the very start. Accordingly, I enthusiastically recommend studying the PG distance learning courses through the UHI!

Great all round university with great balance of city and rurally located. Transport wise, its great within city. Although, it lacks proper parking for rurally located people (where public transport is not an option/viable option) as requires permit. To resolve this, a multistory carpark could be implemented or more bus links/shuttlebuses from locations outside of the city. The lack of public transport outside the city is a problem anyway, so may be worth considering relocating to city for duration of course. With regards to course, having already been a student previously, there are a lot more support systems in place to help aid students. Moreover, compared to other universities, the staff are more than happy to help. The small knit feel of the University and the city provides a homely lifestyle, easily and effortlessly. This is only furthered by the diversity of culture within the city and shire. The union is great, the staff are approachable and friendly. From initially becoming a student to my time here now, however, the union seems to be downsizing. I feel that this is an absolute shame as it provides an independent aspect to life as a student. It, in my opinion, has reduced the quality of student life as it miminises a student voice, independent of the university. That being said, there is a great range of mental health facilities in place now to enhance student lifestyle auch as free gym membership for students.

Tutors are lovely but the only thing that could be improved is the support for the English and the rest of the students who are not from Scotland. It's took me 3 years to get help for my dyslexia and that is because I have to pay for it.

What students say about nursing-specialisms

I feel that I have still learned a lot, but many of the assessments have been changed from practice assessments to essays or tests. I just can’t wait to be on campus because I know it will be so much better. I can’t give a proper opinion until I see what everything is like for myself

The school has a good ambience, with well equipped facilities, however it will be better if there's a mutual and friendly relationship amidst students especially from different backgrounds and countries.
