I am a mature distance learning student, completing my MA in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. The online platform is easy to use and the digital library is expansive. All staff have been easy to contact when I need any support, including IT, Finance, Admin, my personal tutor and teaching staff. I have been assigned a mentor to help me stay connected with university life and the Philosophy department. The modules are contemporary, as are the course materials. The student cohort is diverse and we all connect to the course flexibly, from different time zones. I receive a weekly events newsletter which has plenty of options for attending online webinars and socials.

As an international student, one of the most rewarding aspects of my university experience has been the supportive and student-friendly environment. Adjusting to a new country and education system can be challenging, but the university’s approachable faculty, student services, and peer support made the transition much smoother. The staff are always willing to help, and there are numerous resources available to assist with academic, personal, and cultural adaptation. The university’s inclusivity is another key strength. It celebrates diversity and provides a space where everyone feels respected and valued, regardless of their background or nationality. This inclusive atmosphere has helped me build meaningful connections and collaborate with people from all over the world, enriching my learning and broadening my perspective. Furthermore, the welcoming and accessible environment has made a huge difference. From orientation events to student societies, there are constant efforts to make international students feel at home. The campus facilities, online learning tools, and support services are highly accessible, ensuring that all students can participate fully in academic and social activities. If I can point out something that can be improved is Food. It’s funny how something as simple as food can make such a big difference in how “at home” you feel in a new country. Encouraging more international food options on campus or hosting cultural food events could make a meaningful (and delicious!) improvement to student life.

Best aspects: The University of Leicester offers a supportive and inclusive environment that really helps students thrive. The lecturers are approachable and knowledgeable, and the small class sizes make it easier to engage in discussions and get personalised feedback. The campus is well-equipped, with excellent library resources, study spaces, and modern facilities that make learning comfortable and accessible. There’s also a strong sense of community, with societies and events that help students feel connected and develop both academically and socially. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: Some aspects could be improved, such as streamlining administrative processes like module registration or access to certain student services, which can sometimes be slow or confusing. Additionally, while the campus has great facilities, certain areas like student accommodation or social spaces could benefit from more modernisation or expansion to meet the growing student population. Enhancing mental health support and making sure all services are easy to access online would also make the student experience even better.

Studying at Birmingham City University in the Curzon building is great because of the modern facilities, comfortable study spaces, and central location, which makes everything convenient. It could be improved by adding more quiet study areas during busy times and better communication about timetable updates.

Northampton university is amazing when it comes to inclusiveness. I feel like I am being supported in the ways I need to be. This is complemented by how amazing the lecturers are and how they make every class fun and interesting. However there are several flaws. The lack of student study spaces that are quite and actually available is hard to come by there is also tbe issue of not having wifi that reaches all the classrooms. Most of the week I am out of wifi range so am unable to use the resources I need to study on campus.

The campus at the University of Nottingham is a beautiful place to be able to complete my studies. It has a welcoming and homely feeling. Facilities such as the David Ross Sports Centre and both libraries make it easy for me to complete extra activities such as netball and going to the gym, along with great places to study. Improvements involving the student union could be made, as I found it difficult to find out information about this. However, I couldn’t fault any other aspect of the University.

Herts has one of the best courses in the UK for film. As an American international student, the cost to study here and get to do production instead of only studies as a degree is very worth it. Herts is well placed for film as well as its just a day trip from london and in the same county as majority of the UK's production studios. The teachers here are all well educated and from industry. They make opportunities common as you regularly recive emails about new filming projects. The University also has a program called Herts Propeller Music, which is a colab between the music and film students to create live, professional music videos for real artists. Propeller gets you to learn new equipment years in advance to some fellow students if you start in year 1. The university also provides housing for all year degrees and responds regularly to any issues in flats. The flats have everything a home would need and are easy to make a home in. There are also many societies, such as Drama Society, Musical Theatre Society, Film and Television Society, and Scriptwriting Society that are well placed for developing skills outside of class while also having a social group that supports and accepts you. In terms of things to improve, the University constantly asks for feedback which occasionally gets fixed. The students union can be known to put on great events, but they also struggle to assist societies in their events or daily meetings which have to be cleared with them first. The University also has on campus clubs, such as Seventy7, the Loft, and to be soon reopened the Elehouse bar. These can be great nights out, but caution is needed if you are a woman. There have been many events of harassment, including spiking, which the event security doesnt seem to care much about. Though many students prefer the Hatfield Tap which is a bar a short walk from College Lane which tends to be much safer and holds karaoke nights on Tuesdays. Overall the University of Hertfordshire is a perfect place to study film and provides many resources. The social life and people is a good ballence for anyone and the staff on campus are all very kind and welcoming. If youre thinking about studying at the University of Hertfordshire i would greatly recommend it. Hope you find the place you're looking for.

The university has a really good library with multiple floors in which you can certainly find your preferred study area. On campus there are multiple rooms to choose from if you want to work away from your accommodation, there are many quiet place where you can really focus. Social life is good when you are able to get to talk with people and step out of your comfort zone, otherwise it gets rather lonely quite quickly and it feels like your are isolated no matter how many people there are around you. You have to put yourself out there. The large park on campus is nice and beautiful, aside for the mud when it gets too rainy. The green space is a good opportunity to take a walk to clear your mind, feel refreshed, or if you want to get your steps in for the day. Most people mind their own business, from my experience, and it’s nice to realise and know that you can be comfortable with yourself as well as go for activities that the Student Union puts out for everyone. As I am in an accommodation without a common room, only a kitchen, I think it would be great to make it possible to feel like there are places to go to feel more at home, instead of spending most of the time in your room.

It is good as there is a plethora of support available for all kinds of needs, however, the learning methods are very monotone and there is no atmosphere in the lessons, but this is largely down to the unenthusiasm of a lot of students. Additionally, the facilities are decent but no better than the ones at I had at college, there is just a greater quantity of them. Given that you have to pay for university but not college, you would expect there to be significantly better facilities at a university compared to a college
