I am a remote learning student. I think there isn't as many interactive online sessions as I would have expected and the sessions there isn't a lot of class collaboration between students. However, support at university has been second to none, whenever I have got in touch with a department I have received a response within a working day.

I love the new city campus. It looks great and has excellent facilities, but more green spaces would be nice. The library is well stocked and there are plenty of study spaces. The teaching staff are excellent.

Studying in the Uni of York has been a great experience since I have been able to meet lots of new people from all over the world and I have been able to improve my English level. What I would qualify as a bad aspect is the fact that living in York is expensive but that is more of a problem of the city.

Durham is a beautiful city and university with great social opportunities. The traditions are very strong at this school. It feels today like how Oxford and Cambridge were twenty years ago. Sometimes administration can be a challenge, many people have difficulty in knowing how to pay tuition and the university is slow to respond to emails. Also, there are far too many international students and just students in general. The university’s expansion plans are causing a drop in the school’s national and international rankings and causing the university to be in danger of losing its character.

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the supportive lecturers and the creative freedom within my course. As a Fashion Design student, I really value having access to specialist facilities, equipment, and the opportunity to develop my own concepts. I also appreciate how industry-focused the course is – working on live projects and collaborations has helped me grow in confidence and professionalism. As a mature student and single parent, flexibility and understanding from staff have made a big difference.
