The best experience is meeting new people from different back grounds. The worst aspect is the communication between the head of the course/module and other members of staff, about deadlines and what they can and can't help with.

I don't like the uni location. It's too far from the city and there's no much to do. However, nothing can be done to change that. I would like that there is more opportunities for international students to visit the UK.

Great place for the atmosphere alone, the staff are all really motivated to help and make sure you get the best of your time in university, and their gender neutral facilities make it easy for me as a trans student to remain comfortable while studying here. Lectures are generally well communicated, but the campus and SU emails sometimes get defaulted to spam, making it difficult to really keep posted on what goes on in the context of social events.

My university experience has been a journey of growth, challenge, and self-discovery. Pursuing a Master of Public Health (MPH) after working in the pharmaceutical and clinical field has allowed me to see healthcare from a completely different perspective. Instead of focusing only on individual patients, I now think about communities, prevention strategies, and health systems as a whole. One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the exposure to diverse ideas and teamwork. Working in different study groups has helped me improve my communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Each group project pushed me to think critically and consider different viewpoints. Preparing presentations, such as those on public health issues like tuberculosis, strengthened my research skills and boosted my confidence in public speaking. I also appreciate how my previous work experience in pharmacy and clinical settings allows me to contribute practical insights during discussions. Another positive aspect has been personal growth. University has taught me time management, discipline, and resilience. Balancing coursework, deadlines, and group responsibilities has not always been easy, but it has helped me become more organized and focused. I have learned how to analyze data, interpret research, and apply evidence-based approaches to real-world health challenges. However, there have also been challenges. Group work, while rewarding, can sometimes be stressful due to differences in commitment levels, communication styles, or schedules. Managing academic pressure, tight deadlines, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance has also been difficult at times. Additionally, transitioning from a practical, hands-on clinical role to a more research- and theory-based academic environment required adjustment. Overall, my university experience has been both demanding and enriching. The challenges have helped me grow stronger and more adaptable, while the positive experiences have expanded my knowledge and career vision. Studying public health has not only enhanced my professional skills but has also deepened my passion for improving community health outcomes.

I think how central the university is in the city allows us to have so many opportunities which is a big positive about studying here how many opportunities they give us for work experience volunteering etc

Student life in this university is really enjoyable! I have found the student events to be the most enjoyable and I have made alot of friends through these events. The one thing i dont love about the university is the location, whilst we are close to a big city, its further away than i realised when i applied for it. Making social nights out that little bit harder. I also feel like theres not much social activities to do in Ormskirk overall.

Incredible resources. 24 hour library access. Great faculty. I can be improved by becoming more inclusive. I don’t mean DEI hires. I mean intentionally creating a multicultural environment. Creating a culture where students new to the UK/University environment don’t feel alienated when dealing with certain staff. Eg, clinic staff, or on-campus security. The vast majority of professors are amazing with multicultural students. Except maybe a few (not-so-good-eggs) who may act superior to students of a certain demographic. Generally, I think the culture is great, but can get better for the international students. Every other thing is pretty close to perfect. For an educational institute’s environment.

There is plenty of access to places to study, read and do quiet activities. The libraries have several floors with a lot of private places to study with little to no distractions which has been very convenient for focus.

Best is socials! I’ve joined the swimming club and the team are great, lots of training available with good coaches and fun nights out. I’ve made so many friends. Worst is the food in campus is quite expensive. There are free breakfast schemes sometimes but not enough and the cafes aren’t really subsidised.

I started the BA Photography course in 2018 and finished in 2022. I found the modules interesting, and we had a good mix of arts and more commercially orientated guest speakers. The tutors were incredibly helpful and supportive and did their best to provide engaging sessions despite the disruption of covid19 during my studies there. Resources are good with plenty of studio space, a big Mac-based editing room, and a massive dark room (B@W plus colour possible). Technical support is excellent too. Certainly worth considering for an undergraduate-level photography degree.
