What students say about languages

It's very chill , in central london and the subjects are very interesting and decolonial. The lecturers are very good at what they do. It is lacking in huge university events and festivals with most being arranged by societies very rarely.

What students say about languages

I wouldn't say I've had an experience I can classify as the worst aspect of my uni experience, but overall the university support team is quite helpful, the teachers always try to ensure that you're following along and if you're confused they're always ready to answer so it genuinely is a good place to study.

What students say about languages

Best: well-rounded, educated lecturers that are enthusiastic about contributing to our learning; lots of societies providing opportunities Worst: assessors for written assignments and PBL tutors tend to not give a level playing field for marking/educating - we don't get taught exactly the same things as the rest of our cohort, it is tutor dependent (PBL, clinical skills, etc)

What students say about languages

The best part of my experience has been the practical approach to learning and the diverse student community, which made it easy to meet people and gain different perspectives. The course helped me build useful, real-world skills. On the downside, some areas could be better organised, and communication at times could be improved. Overall, it’s been a valuable and enriching experience.

I love the student union, so many activities for you to do during the free time and the worst part for me is the travel as it takes a while for me to commute to uni, its something that cannot be improved but its the worst thing for me

What students say about languages

Best aspects: The university provides a supportive learning environment with helpful lecturers and good academic resources. The campus is generally welcoming, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop skills both academically and personally. Worst aspects / Improvements: One issue that needs improvement is the heating and hot water system, as it does not always work properly. At times, students only have access to cold water, which can be uncomfortable and difficult, especially for students who are sensitive or have health issues related to cold temperatures. Ensuring reliable heating and hot water would greatly improve student comfort and wellbeing.

What students say about languages

Studying at Birmingham Newman University has been a really positive experience overall. One of the best aspects is the strong sense of community — it’s a smaller university, which makes it feel more supportive and personal. Lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in students’ progress, and it’s much easier to build relationships with both staff and classmates compared to larger universities. Another highlight is the campus environment. It’s compact and easy to navigate, with a friendly atmosphere that helps you feel comfortable quickly. The focus on student wellbeing and support services is also a big plus, especially during busy or stressful periods. That said, there are areas that could be improved. Because it’s a smaller university, facilities and resources can feel a bit limited compared to bigger institutions. There could also be more variety in extracurricular activities and societies to give students a wider university experience. Overall, it’s a great place to study if you value a close-knit, supportive environment, but expanding resources and opportunities would make the experience even better.

What students say about languages

We're lacking a lot in terms of music facilities, or facilities available are very old/decrepid. Bangor is a very beautiful area, however ot is a struggle to get around with mobility issues. Everyone here is friendly as we're a small community. It has a cosy, warm vibe.
