Really great university. LSE has such a vibrant international atmosphere, and it’s location in the center of London gives you so many options! Something that stands out about LSE are the incredible opportunities given to students to attend all sorts of conferences and events that are so useful in your growth as an academic and professional. The community at LSE is so unique, it is so diverse and supportive. I recommend LSE very highly to anyone considering.

University of Salford is a great place to study because it offers strong industry connections, modern facilities, and practical learning opportunities that prepare students for real careers. Its location near Manchester provides access to a vibrant city, diverse culture, and many professional networks, while the campus itself offers supportive learning spaces, libraries, and collaborative environments. The university also emphasizes employability through placements, industry-led projects, and partnerships with businesses. However, it could be improved by expanding student support services, increasing study and social spaces during busy periods, and providing more affordable accommodation options to better support students’ wellbeing and academic success.

Best aspects are the freebies all throughout the year, loads and loads of amazing events my student union plans which unfortunately get booked up fast and not many people attend and people miss out, I hope the student union never stops though as they’ve been life changing and made my student experience better. Great place to study as everyone is so friendly, it doesn’t seem as daunting as a “top” university like uni of Liverpool for want of a better term. It feels down to earth, student lead and student centered. It’s welcoming and I feel like all types of people thrive here because of how many societies we have and even how many different areas Liverpool has and is close to. It’s been absolutely perfect for me. Coming from a once shy almost friendless scared Irish teenager, I’ve found a really secure community here and I feel loved. It just took a lot of time to realise that you can make your student experience how ever you want it to be, it takes courage too, which is hard and daunting, I wish there was a little more support and active awareness for introverted people with events or things cared towards them to help get settled into uni, like workshops and maybe group conversations for newbies. That’s the bit I found the hardest and took a lot of time, and I found my own comparison very difficult to people who were settled and secure here. So just more space for those people, to make uni less daunting. I think my university, John moores, is doing so well though, couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else as it’s perfect for me.

Studying subjects I genuinely cared about was incredibly rewarding. Unlike school, university allowed deep exploration of ideas, debates, and specializations. Whether you’re diving into philosophy at places like University of Oxford or engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, that freedom to focus intensely on your interests is empowering.

University of Hull has a beautiful and serene environment suitable for learning and even relaxing. The lecturers are very warm and receptive. Things that could be improved: student union (I don’t really see what they do, I’m sorry); the university should make arrangements with more landlords in order to make students living easier; Timetable should be more flexible (we asked for a change in my department but nothing was done)

I love all the student deals. However, I feel like many of the student activity processes could be streamlined as it seems so overwhelming as a foreigner/first-year. Like, having to book a ticket, but then still waiting in line or an event being overbooked via ticketing that people are dissuaded to come. Then, when the event takes place, the ticket holders don’t even come.

YSJ is incredibly central to town, unlike UoY, and is within walking distance of a lot of what you're going to want from the city. As a language and linguistics student, I think the facilities are really good, and all the tutors are lovely. My experience with student support has been okay, although not the greatest, but when I was having counselling sessions with the wellbeing team, the person I had was lovely and really helped. It's also a very small campus; much more like a sixth form college campus, which is really useful and makes going between classes a lot easier.

Best aspects: The university provides a supportive learning environment with helpful lecturers and good academic resources. The campus is generally welcoming, and there are plenty of opportunities to develop skills both academically and personally. Worst aspects / Improvements: One issue that needs improvement is the heating and hot water system, as it does not always work properly. At times, students only have access to cold water, which can be uncomfortable and difficult, especially for students who are sensitive or have health issues related to cold temperatures. Ensuring reliable heating and hot water would greatly improve student comfort and wellbeing.

The best part of my university experience has been the learning environment and independence. I’ve had access to good facilities, knowledgeable tutors, and projects that push me to think critically and work in a more professional way, especially through practical and design-based assignments. University has also helped me develop discipline, self-management, and confidence in my own ideas. Being surrounded by people from different backgrounds has broadened how I think, both academically and personally.
