Teaching staff here are exceptionally kind to students and are willing to go an extra mile to help students' studies, with a variety of adjustment measures available. There are too many people smoking on campus and the university management ought to take care of that.

The best aspects of my university experience so far are all the clubs and societies you’re able to join and meet people through. The location of the University of Glasgow is also amazing as it’s nearby to lots of shops and restaurants that you can go to in between lectures! The worst aspects of university experience would be the cost of living and the price of joining sports here.

Personal Reflection on My Experience at the University of Aberdeen (2024–2025) My time at the University of Aberdeen, in the Artificial Intelligence Department, began with great optimism. I was eager to immerse myself in advanced topics such as machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems, and to learn from experienced lecturers and researchers. The environment initially felt welcoming and intellectually stimulating. However, my experience changed after a difficult interaction with one of my lecturers, who also served as the course coordinator for Machine Learning. I approached him respectfully to discuss a grading issue I had identified in one of my assessments. After review, he acknowledged the marking mistake. Although I appreciated his honesty in admitting the error, this incident unexpectedly affected the atmosphere around me. Over time, I began to feel a noticeable shift in how some people treated me. Certain lecturers and fellow students appeared distant, and a few even avoided interacting with me. On several occasions, I was excluded from group projects because some classmates declined to have me join their teams. This created a deep sense of isolation and disappointment, and I often found myself suffering in silence throughout my academic journey. Despite these challenges, I made a determined effort to remain focused on my studies and uphold my commitment to learning. I continued to engage with coursework, contribute meaningfully wherever possible, and seek knowledge beyond the classroom. Through this experience, I learned to rely on my inner strength, discipline, and integrity. Looking back, this period taught me profound lessons about resilience, fairness, and self-belief. It showed me that adversity, while painful, can also be transformative. I now carry forward not just the technical skills I gained, but also a deeper sense of empathy and the courage to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult.

I have felt extremely supported throughout my experience so far. The teachers are lovely and approachable individuals who have first hand knowledge and years of experience in my subject. We have been given practical sessions to prepare us for going out into placements and the timetable makes balancing university and our outside life extremely manageable. The teachers are all very understanding and supportive of parents studying on the course and the university even have a breastfeeding room to support mothers which is fantastic. There are numerous clubs and activities going on each day so there are plenty of opportunities to learn a new skill, keep fit, and make friends. Providing a coach to attend lessons at Stone X stadium is also highly beneficial and convenient for us students that have to go there regularly. On the other hand, I will say improvements can be made in their application and interview process as it felt slightly unorganised and I had to message them a few times to keep updated on my application status. It would be much better if they actually sent communications to us applicants to inform us if we have an interview or have been accepted into the university as I often felt forgotten about during this process and it seemed as though they would only ever progress my application once I messaged them. Fortunately, now that I have been accepted, they keep me very regularly updated on what is going on in the university.

The university has a welcoming atmosphere and the support systems that are in place and phenomenal. I enjoy the people that I have met and the city has grown on me during my stay at the University. The only downside is I feel that although they uni has tried to implement green spaces, they could do more with the areas and make them more inviting for students.

The university is a great place to study because of the strong academic support, inclusive campus culture, and wide range of opportunities available to students. There are excellent learning resources, tailored academic support services, and an active student community supported by a vibrant campus and a lively city environment. The commitment to widening participation, student engagement, and wellbeing creates an environment where students feel supported and encouraged to succeed. To improve further, there could be more targeted support and events for commuting students, as well as greater visibility and celebration of key cultural and social events to ensure all students feel represented and included. Building on these areas would help strengthen an already positive and diverse student experience.

The best aspects of my university experience has definitely been the societies, and all the amazing study spaces I have access to. The worst aspect of my experience has been in regards to coursework and requesting help from lecturers, as the specifications are often vague and the answers received contradictory.
