Environment Protection postgraduate degrees

What makes my uni a great place to study is their student support. They try to help their students in any way possible to ensure that students get the best out of their education. I think it would be better if the university put more effort into societies and clubs such as sporting clubs and teams . It would help the university to have more of a community and really showcase other talents other than what students already study on their courses. My university do have societies and some sporting teams, however some of the societies don’t run anymore and it’s not made to be as big as it was when I first heard about it before I joined uni. I think it’s important to have that feel of community and university culture and to also show the inclusiveness of different cultures, groups and activities in which people associate them selves with.

For what Bournemouth lacks in name it makes up for it with the great student support and environment of the university. Every staff member and facilities are easy to access or talk to. The career hub is super useful and honestly a massive positive, not to mention the very efficient medical center and student union finance support team for students. The bursaries are generous in my opinion and I honestly could not have made it otherwise. The pastoral care is unmatched in my opinion. Safety on campus is great. the student union always has stuff going on, ALWAYS, like a bread and bakery stall on some mornings, lots of international events too, being from France it made me feel quite at home at time. The teaching isn't awful, not the best either, maybe it's my course, but the option and units are interesting. The university reputation is average at best, but like I said they make up for it in other ways. The area is nice, it's a student town, with the beach, I personally like it, and the transport system is very very reliable and efficient.

I don't like the uni location. It's too far from the city and there's no much to do. However, nothing can be done to change that. I would like that there is more opportunities for international students to visit the UK.

All staff in university is eager to help you with any kind of questions or problems. At lectures teachers are really engaging and supportive. You never notice how quick time flies during lectures. Especially, before any assignments you are given every detail about it, so you are well prepared and not scared at all. Birkbeck suggests a lot of opportunities for busy social life, where you can meet lots of enthusiastic people, and opportunities for future career such as additional workshops, professional guests, etc. I love being a part of this community!

Great university located in a beautiful coastal town. The staff are kind and supportive, and there to help students in times of need. The SU organises events which support students, like the free pantry on Mondays, where those of us who are struggling due to cost of living can take food for free . Additionally, there are many facilities, like the printing room and the MAC suite, which students can use to help them with their course work material. Overall a lovely place filled with amazing people, but awful prices. The campus art shop, while handy, has high prices and the canteen food is extremely pricey too. They also do not accept any cash, which can be a hassle.

It also achieved a 5-star rating in the QS Quacquarelli Symonds Stars system for teaching, employability, facilities, innovation and inclusiveness. SHU emphasises applied learning and work placements: more than half of its courses include an integrated work placement or similar experience. Graduate outcomes are strong: for instance, it reports high rates of students in employment or further study shortly after graduating. It’s very inclusive and committed to widening access: e.g., SHU states that 53% of its students are the first in their family to attend university, and 24.5% come from low-participation neighbourhoods. Particularly strong in societal impact: in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, SHU is ranked top 10 globally for its role in reducing inequality. 2. Facilities, location & student-life suitability The university is based in Sheffield, a city often praised for being student-friendly, lower cost than many UK cities, and with good transport connections. SHU has modern and extensive facilities, including specialised labs and buildings for engineering, materials, health & social care. For someone like you doing Mechanical Engineering with industrial placement, SHU’s emphasis on applied teaching and links with industry could be advantageous. 3. Relevance for engineering and applied disciplines SHU highlights research and teaching in areas such as materials science, engineering, art & design, health and social care. It also has strong regional industry links (given Sheffield’s industrial heritage) which could help with placements.

NTU offers amazing facilities particularly for the animal science courses. Studying at Brackenhurst you get to explore beautiful grounds and historic architecture whilst provided with on hand experience with animals. Living on city campus you get to experience the classic uni life surrounded by independent clubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, etc. Moreover, the endless societies can take you to the national ice centre, the climbing gym or into the peak district.

For someone who has to live for the first time away from their family, that too in a new country. Bangor really welcomed me with open arms. From International Student Staff to the fraternity, everyone is so sweet and helpful. I love that they make you feel at home. Even if you’ve the slightest doubt , they are there to help you with it. I’m happy that I’m surrounded by such great people.

It's good that everything is close to each other so travelling from one place to another doesn't take much. In terms of the worst thing, it might be just my course however it is a bit pricey considering what we are receiving.

What makes the university a great place to study is how nice the teachers are and willing to help students. How it could be improved is raising more awareness about opportunities that the university has especially for those who want to study in the University
