English Literature postgraduate degrees in South East England

It's very chill , in central london and the subjects are very interesting and decolonial. The lecturers are very good at what they do. It is lacking in huge university events and festivals with most being arranged by societies very rarely.

Best: well-rounded, educated lecturers that are enthusiastic about contributing to our learning; lots of societies providing opportunities Worst: assessors for written assignments and PBL tutors tend to not give a level playing field for marking/educating - we don't get taught exactly the same things as the rest of our cohort, it is tutor dependent (PBL, clinical skills, etc)

WIFI is absolutely awful and there are many dead zones around campus. How can a top-level engineering university provide such poor internet connection, especially when all of our assignments are internet based and due online? I am constantly searching for places around campus with any useable connection and the VPN speeds when you're off campus are just unusable. It's the year 2024. How have we not figured this out yet? It's absolutely unaccusable. You have the money to build an entire new campus, but can't fix the internet at your main campus? Awful.

What makes my uni a great place to study is their student support. They try to help their students in any way possible to ensure that students get the best out of their education. I think it would be better if the university put more effort into societies and clubs such as sporting clubs and teams . It would help the university to have more of a community and really showcase other talents other than what students already study on their courses. My university do have societies and some sporting teams, however some of the societies don’t run anymore and it’s not made to be as big as it was when I first heard about it before I joined uni. I think it’s important to have that feel of community and university culture and to also show the inclusiveness of different cultures, groups and activities in which people associate them selves with.

One of the best parts of studying at Roehampton University is the friendly and supportive environment. The lecturers explain topics clearly and are always willing to help when students have questions. The campus is peaceful, with good facilities like the library, study rooms, and social spaces, which makes it a comfortable place to learn. I also enjoy meeting classmates from different countries and backgrounds because it helps me learn new ideas and understand different cultures. The teaching style at Roehampton makes learning easier and more enjoyable. Seminars and group activities help me understand the lessons better, and the coursework is practical, helping me connect what I learn to real-life situations. I feel that the university encourages students to think independently and build confidence. Overall, I feel supported in my studies, and this has helped me grow both academically and personally. Even though my experience has been positive, there are some areas that could improve. Sometimes the workload feels heavy, especially when deadlines are close together. Communication about certain tasks or readings can be unclear at times. More career support, part-time job opportunities, and more flexible timetables would also make things easier for students. However, these challenges are common in most universities, and Roehampton still offers a good overall student experience.

i love the facilities at this uni, the library and the teaching is great. there are many places for all types of students ,quiet or not, to go and the nightlife in the city is prety decent. it is quite affordable compared to other universitys close by. the societies are fantastic aswell. the university could improve on certain teaching aspects in the first year to ease us into how very independant it all is

My course is taught by passionate lecturers who make the subject feel relevant and engaging, and I’ve appreciated how approachable most staff are when I need help. There are also plenty of extracurricular activities and societies, which made it easy to meet people with similar interests. The campus facilities—like the library, study spaces, and wellbeing services—have also been a big part of what makes it a great place to study. In terms of what could be improved, there are a few key areas. Communication between departments could sometimes be clearer, especially around deadlines and timetable changes. At busy times of the year, access to study spaces can become limited, and more quiet areas or longer opening hours would make a difference. It would also help if there were more practical, hands-on learning opportunities such as placements, workshops, or industry links, as these really enhance understanding and employability. Overall, the university offers a supportive and stimulating environment, but with better organisation and more resources during peak periods, the student experience could be even stronger.
