Limited amount of shops in Lincoln, which makes it get a bit stale quick, but is still a lovely city with plenty of things to do. Another downside is the fact it is in the middle of nowhere, you have to get trains or coaches if you want to go anywhere else. However, it does have everything you need as a student, with a good night out as well

The best aspect of my university experience is the teaching staff and the wider university team. The lecturers are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed, and the student-facing staff are consistently kind, friendly, and approachable. There is a strong sense that everyone is willing to help, which makes the university a welcoming and encouraging place to study. An area for improvement would be the reliability of facilities, particularly the internet connection and printers, which have recently not been working consistently. Improving this would make studying on campus more efficient and less stressful.

What truly sets the University of Derby apart for me is its 'hands-on first' philosophy. It’s not just about sitting in a lecture hall; it’s about actually doing the job before you even graduate. As a national leader in employability ranking 2nd in the UK this year. The university has invested in us with incredible facilities. Walking into our new £75 million Zero-Carbon Business School or practicing in the mock Crown Court and NHS wards makes the transition to a career feel seamless. Having partners like Rolls-Royce involved in our learning means we aren't just getting a degree; we’re getting a head start. Beyond the classroom, I’ve found the support here to be incredibly personal. With NSS scores consistently above 85%, you really feel like the staff know your name and care about your progress. Plus, living in award-winning accommodation has made settling into university life much easier than I expected. Of course, there is always room to improve. To really reach the "next level," I'd love to see: Better Connections: Stronger physical and social links to make the walk between Kedleston Road and the City campuses feel more integrated. Global Reach: Continuing to push our research reputation so our degrees carry even more weight internationally. Smoother Admin: A more streamlined approach to timetabling and digital communication. Inclusive Socializing: More diverse, non-alcohol-based spaces that reflect our entire student community.
