Missing the ‘normal’ uni experience but is what it is in these difficult times! The university have accommodated us as best as they can in these times and even provided the on site COVID testing which has been great. It’s been challenging not having the contact hours in respect to the nature of the degree but this could not be helped.

The best aspects of my university experience have been the sense of community and the opportunities for personal and academic growth. My course is taught by passionate lecturers who make the subject feel relevant and engaging, and I’ve appreciated how approachable most staff are when I need help. There are also plenty of extracurricular activities and societies, which made it easy to meet people with similar interests. The campus facilities—like the library, study spaces, and wellbeing services—have also been a big part of what makes it a great place to study. In terms of what could be improved, there are a few key areas. Communication between departments could sometimes be clearer, especially around deadlines and timetable changes. At busy times of the year, access to study spaces can become limited, and more quiet areas or longer opening hours would make a difference. It would also help if there were more practical, hands-on learning opportunities such as placements, workshops, or industry links, as these really enhance understanding and employability. Overall, the university offers a supportive and stimulating environment, but with better organisation and more resources during peak periods, the student experience could be even stronger.

Best thing is the fantastic 24/7 library that's not just resourceful but also incredibly welcoming with even overnight snacks there for those who spend their time at the library at night! I wish the university had more student accommodation on offer for the international students.

Studying at Birmingham Newman University has been a really positive experience overall. One of the best aspects is the strong sense of community — it’s a smaller university, which makes it feel more supportive and personal. Lecturers are approachable and genuinely invested in students’ progress, and it’s much easier to build relationships with both staff and classmates compared to larger universities. Another highlight is the campus environment. It’s compact and easy to navigate, with a friendly atmosphere that helps you feel comfortable quickly. The focus on student wellbeing and support services is also a big plus, especially during busy or stressful periods. That said, there are areas that could be improved. Because it’s a smaller university, facilities and resources can feel a bit limited compared to bigger institutions. There could also be more variety in extracurricular activities and societies to give students a wider university experience. Overall, it’s a great place to study if you value a close-knit, supportive environment, but expanding resources and opportunities would make the experience even better.

One of the best choices for Management and related courses. Vast curriculum outside of textbooks that helps gain the practical knowledge. Outstanding teaching and support staff. The location of a Uni is not in a City so can be a problematic sometimes but its just one small point.

The best aspects are that the teachers are helpful and experienced and so it helps with learning, however there could be more help with exam resources such as more practice questions for the exam to get the most support

As someone who came from Bangladesh, I was initially worried about adjusting to a new country, but the university has made me feel included and comfortable. Meeting students from different parts of the world has been a great experience, and it has helped me grow both personally and academically. Another great thing is the campus itself. It is modern, well-equipped, and provides a good environment for studying. The location is also very convenient, which makes daily life easier for students. The support services are helpful, especially for international students, but sometimes it can take time to get responses or appointments during busy periods. Improving response times and making support more easily accessible would make the experience even better. Overall, the university provides a positive and inspiring place to study, with a strong focus on student development and real-world skills. I am happy to be part of such a diverse and supportive community.
