The best aspects of my university experience have been the sense of community and the opportunities for personal and academic growth. My course is taught by passionate lecturers who make the subject feel relevant and engaging, and I’ve appreciated how approachable most staff are when I need help. There are also plenty of extracurricular activities and societies, which made it easy to meet people with similar interests. The campus facilities—like the library, study spaces, and wellbeing services—have also been a big part of what makes it a great place to study. In terms of what could be improved, there are a few key areas. Communication between departments could sometimes be clearer, especially around deadlines and timetable changes. At busy times of the year, access to study spaces can become limited, and more quiet areas or longer opening hours would make a difference. It would also help if there were more practical, hands-on learning opportunities such as placements, workshops, or industry links, as these really enhance understanding and employability. Overall, the university offers a supportive and stimulating environment, but with better organisation and more resources during peak periods, the student experience could be even stronger.

My university experience has been both rewarding and challenging in different ways. One of the best aspects of my time at university has been the academic growth and practical learning opportunities. Studying Mechanical Engineering, especially progressing into my BEng top-up programme, has allowed me to deepen my technical knowledge and apply theory to real-world engineering problems. The lecturers are supportive and knowledgeable, and the facilities such as labs and software access have helped me develop industry-relevant skills. I have also enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds, which has improved my communication skills and cultural awareness. University has helped me become more independent, responsible, and confident in managing my time and workload. Another great aspect is the support services available to students. Whether academic guidance, career advice, or wellbeing support, there are systems in place to help students succeed. The campus environment is welcoming and encourages both personal and professional development. One of the more challenging aspects has been balancing academic pressure with other responsibilities, especially during assignment deadlines and exam periods. Sometimes workload from multiple modules can feel intense. Additionally, while facilities are good, access to certain resources during peak times can be limited, which can make studying more difficult. Overall, my university experience has been very positive. The challenges have helped me grow stronger and more organised, and the supportive learning environment makes it a great place to study. Improvements could focus on spreading assessments more evenly and increasing access to study spaces during busy periods

i love the community - societies are great, i love how i’ve met so many people and get to do a course i love, the worst aspect is maybe how many days were in as it doesn’t see very worth it and facilities/resources for art students as we got £150 from an exhibition last year and they kept the money for “resources” however we’ve not seen any

The facilities in Aston university makes it convenient for students to study. The facilities are modern and well maintained and there are multiple areas for group work and quiet study. The location is good as well as everything’s in walking distance like restaurants, shops and job opportunities. This makes it really convenient for students. One area where it could be improved is the parking. During peak times it can be quite difficult to find parking. Improving this for students who commute would make a big difference.

The students at our university are the most important people on campus. Our university is very good at putting the students first and allowing them to have their say. Furthermore, there is a multitude of opportunities for staff and students to work together making the campus feel more like a community. I myself have worked with the Comms; Events; People and Wellbeing teams allowing me to form close bonds with facility.

Tutors are lovely but the only thing that could be improved is the support for the English and the rest of the students who are not from Scotland. It's took me 3 years to get help for my dyslexia and that is because I have to pay for it.

It is difficult to get to and from Cornwall, and a lot of activities can only be done if you have a car I enjoy the focus on environment and all the career experiences the university provides, as well as guest lectures and opportunities to explore other subject

Loughborough is very accessible and has lots to offer solely on the campus, luckily it’s only a short walk into town for more as well! I do think some sort of student bus card for the sprint bus when going into town would be great as a trip is £3.
