Biology and Life Sciences postgraduate degrees in Southern England

Excellent quality of teaching and a wide range of modules available. Glad I chose this university over Imperial College MPH. The campus itself is well located but a lot of the rooms are in the basement and the lecture theatres are cramped!

Best aspects: The university offers a supportive learning environment with approachable, knowledgeable lecturers and engaging course content that links theory to real-world practice. There is a strong sense of community among students, and access to learning resources is very good. Areas for improvement: Communication around deadlines, placements, and administrative processes could be clearer and more consistent. Earlier information and more streamlined systems would help reduce stress and improve the overall student experience.

What makes my uni a great place to study is their student support. They try to help their students in any way possible to ensure that students get the best out of their education. I think it would be better if the university put more effort into societies and clubs such as sporting clubs and teams . It would help the university to have more of a community and really showcase other talents other than what students already study on their courses. My university do have societies and some sporting teams, however some of the societies don’t run anymore and it’s not made to be as big as it was when I first heard about it before I joined uni. I think it’s important to have that feel of community and university culture and to also show the inclusiveness of different cultures, groups and activities in which people associate them selves with.

The careers team is amazing at posting job listings. They are so proactive in getting you the right support and I love that about them. And I think the structure of some teaching material could be improved with bringing the right balance of AI into studies

The support Brighton Uni has given me so much support with this course and made it very clear who to contact if any issues arise. I also know from friends how incredibly supportive and sympathetic the uni has been when they have experienced personal issues. This is my second Uni I have studied at, and Brighton is far better with the support it gives its students compared to the first one.

Southampton's main Highfield campus is like a city in a desert, its very active in the campus but outside of it the nearest facilities are rather scarce and like a 10-20 minute commute away. Facilities are very good though and the research done at the uni is very good

Visually is appealing and the social areas are varied with lots of options. The lecturers are happy to help and are understanding. Lots of societies to choose from. Some lecture halls are notably old and broken in some places that need reworking. The attendance system since its update is unreliable.

One of the best parts of studying at Roehampton University is the friendly and supportive environment. The lecturers explain topics clearly and are always willing to help when students have questions. The campus is peaceful, with good facilities like the library, study rooms, and social spaces, which makes it a comfortable place to learn. I also enjoy meeting classmates from different countries and backgrounds because it helps me learn new ideas and understand different cultures. The teaching style at Roehampton makes learning easier and more enjoyable. Seminars and group activities help me understand the lessons better, and the coursework is practical, helping me connect what I learn to real-life situations. I feel that the university encourages students to think independently and build confidence. Overall, I feel supported in my studies, and this has helped me grow both academically and personally. Even though my experience has been positive, there are some areas that could improve. Sometimes the workload feels heavy, especially when deadlines are close together. Communication about certain tasks or readings can be unclear at times. More career support, part-time job opportunities, and more flexible timetables would also make things easier for students. However, these challenges are common in most universities, and Roehampton still offers a good overall student experience.

It might not be university specific, but the difficulties in commuting has a big impact. The university has been negotiating with the first bus, however, the busses are always full because of sudden cancellations. Since university is at the top of the hill, I would hope this to be improved significantly so I wouldn’t have to walk up or take an uber up which makes me too tiring to concentrate on lectures.

The uni itself is great, different varieties of classes and equipment. However parking situation is a big concern. I can't park anywhere, even when I have later lessons in the day. I am still waiting for parkingnpermits for my campus. Other than that it is a wonderful university and the staff are very helpful in family situations, good and bad.
