The campus is well-equipped, with excellent library resources, study spaces, and modern facilities that make learning comfortable and accessible. There’s also a strong sense of community, with societies and events that help students feel connected and develop both academically and socially. Worst aspects / areas for improvement: Some aspects could be improved, such as streamlining administrative processes like module registration or access to certain student services, which can sometimes be slow or confusing. Additionally, while the campus has great facilities, certain areas like student accommodation or social spaces could benefit from more modernisation or expansion to meet the growing student population. Enhancing mental health support and making sure all services are easy to access online would also make the student experience even better.

Study spaces get very crowded and busy. However the facilities are always clean and nice. There is a lot of student support on offer and is advertised well. The location is very nice with loads of shops and cafes near by. Transport links are also very good.

Best is the people and the quality of the education, worst has to deal with who runs UCL, administration has quite a few dirtbags. Facilitates aren't the greatest. I prefer more of a traditional campus feel and prefer KCL and LSE campus. Still considering coming back to UCL to apply for a LLM, alongside the other London unis, and maybe throw my shot at oxbridge.

The "Hatfield Hole": Let’s be real—Hatfield isn't a bustling cultural mecca. While it’s safe and functional, it lacks the "big city" excitement. Students often find themselves stuck in a loop between the campus and the Galleria Mall. The Social "Alcohol Gap": While The Forum is a legendary night out, there is a noticeable lack of high-quality, "dry" social spaces for students who don't want to spend their Friday nights in a club. More late-night cafes or hobby hubs would improve the community feel. Accommodation Costs: Like much of the South East, living on campus is pricey. While the rooms are modern (especially the newer halls), the rent can eat up a huge chunk of your maintenance loan, leaving you a bit strapped for the "fun stuff." Top Tips for Future Herts Students Escape to St Albans: When Hatfield feels a bit small, take a 15-minute bus to St Albans. It’s got the pubs, the history, and the "aesthetic" that Hatfield lacks. The Sports Village is a Must: Even if you aren't an athlete, the gym and pool are incredible. It’s a great way to clear your head during finals. Network Early: Because UH is so industry-focused, the guest lecturers are often high-level professionals. Don’t just sit in the back—talk to them after the lecture. Studying at a Russell Group institution like QMUL has definitely met my expectations by providing the high-level academic rigor I was looking for. The transition from Dubai to London was a significant move, but the depth of the Actuarial Science curriculum here is exactly why I chose the UK. Because this course is so niche and not widely offered at universities globally, I’ve appreciated how specialized the modules are. Instead of a general finance degree, I’m getting deep into the specific intersection of mathematics, statistics, and risk management that the UK is famous for. The professional alignment—like the path toward IFoA exemptions—adds a layer of practical value that is hard to find elsewhere. Could me improved if it was easier to make friends but thats not the universities issue.

I am a university of Wales Trinity Saint David student and this campus is excellent. All staffs are well trained and responsd well to the students. And it has very rich history. I would gladly vouch for them.

Best is socials! I’ve joined the swimming club and the team are great, lots of training available with good coaches and fun nights out. I’ve made so many friends. Worst is the food in campus is quite expensive. There are free breakfast schemes sometimes but not enough and the cafes aren’t really subsidised.
