I really like the community and the clubs and things like that.

The year in industry team are fantastic and offer tons of support. The blended learning js good and the department responds really well to feedback such as us complaining we had to much online stuff so they set a minimum number of in person hours for each module.

It was nice, it was in an OK place. There weren't many college events and the freshers week was definitely less varied than that of other colleges

Beautiful environment being next to Yorks historic city, but in winter without tree cover the main campus is quite ugly due to brutalist architecture. There are lots of locations to study independently on campus and in the city centre, tho information on their location is not widely distributed by the university/student union. Opportunity to participate in the universities many societies is a great upside. The student's union is however difficult to ge tsupport or complaints from, with the un campus venues staffed and ran by them are often understaffed and have issues (broken ovens/friers/supply issues).

The maths department is chronically underfunded yet many lectures still maintain a high quality of teaching. The standard of lectures and quality of support material supplied depends on the individual lecturer. Note that since lockdown the number of the resources has increased in all classes I've taken . Many of the lectures love the subjects behind the classes they teach and it comes through in their enthusiasm and how engaging the classes are.

The halls were extremely expensive and the price has increased year on year since I stayed there in my first year. The halls themselves were nice and modern but due to the price it still manages to feel underwhelming. It may have been resolved but in 2017/18 due to poor design planning there was a small wind tunnel created between buildings that often meant the that the automatic doors couldn't close, leaving the buildings permanently open. Though it's worth noting that there was internal door off the stairs to each shared flat that did not allow direct access to anyone who wanted to walk in.
