An amazing few years...the people and staff are very friendly with support and guidance about the course. The set work has been fun and interesting and useful teaching experiences

Overall I´d say my experience at the Uni was positive, but I think the Film Studies course needs to be more modernized. The University has a great community and social feel, and the people here are always friendly and kind to each other.

The uni offers a lot of support for mental health and wellness and makes a great effort to accommodate disabled students.

Quality of teaching can vary greatly from lecturer to lecturer. Some are very helpful and supportive and make an effort to explain things in an easy to understand and accessible way, while others seem to want to on making them as hard to follow as possible, even to the point of refusing to use PowerPoint. I sometimes felt like these lecturers were against students and did not want them to do well. There is a sense as well that the lectures just want to see their own opinion given back to them in essays, rather than wanting students to have their own ideas.

I think this can really depend on the course, as with Film Studies the only direct path is more studying. As it´s a very minor course for the Uni there wasn´t much support from career services when I spoke to them about potential careers. i know though that other degree like media will train you more in a variety of transferable skills, give you support with placements, and have more direct career prospects.
