My overall college experience is good. I don't feel overly stressed by the assignments as they are well explained and tutors are good at helping me through it with resources being readily available.
My social experience could be better though that's mainly because of personal reasons but the available facilities do help. The external social aspects are pretty bad because of the college's location but travel into York is possible, just inconvenient at late times unless by taxi.
Facilities
How good are your college's facilities?
The on-site kennels, wildlife park and farm are high quality and allow students to gain valuable practical experience.
The library has a wide selection of books and it's easy to search for a specific one. The study spaces are also readily available.
The accommodation is good quality for its price and the social spaces including the bar are ready available and useful for unwinding.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the college? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The academic support is readily available as tutors are easy to contact and all assignment receive useful feedback.
The personal support could be better as the councilor is mediocre and hard to arrange a meeting with, tho the student union and tutors are good h LP with personal issues.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The thing I like the most is how the different modules are taught in a variety of ways.
The thing I don't like is that some modules content is similar and can often be redundant.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
18
Career prospects
How does your college make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
It's easy to arrange a meeting with the careers department and they also offer regular coffee talks to discuss possible future careers. They also host an on-site career fair annually.
Work placement is a required part of many courses and can easily be obtained at the on-site facilities or through suggested businesses.
Transferable skills are obtained through most of the non-course specific modules teaching skills such as business and leadership skills.
