As an international student, moving abroad can feel very overwhelming, but NTU has made it easier and knowing I have support available most of the time is relieving. Their accommodation and finance team have solved all the issues I've had so far. Because I am part of the ARES school, it means my campus is far from the city, which makes going out and buying groceries a bit challenging; although there is a bar, two cafeterias and one shop onsite, I find sometimes it is not enough - certainly I cannot get all my groceries from the on-campus shop! A bus ride to the city takes up to 45 minutes, and during weekdays it stops at 11pm, but if you are able to plan everything, it shouldn't be a huge problem. Besides that, I believe the campus is very well suited for the courses it provides, there is an animal unit with a broad range of species - from tiny spiders and reptiles to goats and donkeys - a glasshouse complex for agriculture, a cricket field, a medium-sized library, an equine unit (for equine courses) and a farm. Something I really appreciate are the extra activities one gets to do every now and then; somedays you can put hands-on the animal unit and get more experience, there're optional drop-in sessions about horses, crafts sessions every week, and movie nights and events during holidays (such as little fairs). However, the sports area could definitely be improved, as there is no gym inside the campus (the nearest one is about a 15 min walk) and we only get few ´Play for Fun Sessions´ (which are sports classes/games for when you're not part of a team or if you just wanna try out something new). Another positive aspect is all the resources you can get from the library staff - and the online library tools too! - and the fact that you can use facilities, in all 3 campuses. Finally, every school and course has a rep, making it easier to reach out and make our voices be heard; you can involve in decision-making and social activities as much or as little as you wish, as there are over a hundred societies and more than 50 sports clubs. I believe that Nottingham Trent does a great job, not only when it comes to the academic, but also taking care of us as students; Iam very happy to have decided to study at NTU!

My course is fully face-to-face. For first year, there are 6 modules, and a normal timetable has around 11 hours of lectures; each month we get practical experience with animals at the animal unit, as well as practicals in the lab (which is fully equipped). The scoring you get in your final assignments during your 1° year, will not count towards the grade you get once you graduate, this is because teachers try to get everyone on the same level before going through more field-specific stuff. The fact that we do not have assignments or homework every week/month can be either seen as beneficial or not, it depends on your study and learning methods; nonetheless, you get plenty opportunities to test your knowledge and prepare your assignments before the deadlines.

Being from a foreign country, I can say that Nottingham is a great place for living. It is safe, has a lot of fun places to go to, and it's perfect for students - as it is full of student discounts! The public transport service is great, and because there are lots of restaurants and stores, employers are constantly searching for new workers.

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
The city is a 45 min bus drive away, and although there's a town closer, when it comes to going out, having fun and buying essentials, you will need to go every once in a while at least. The bar, shops and cafeterias on-campus are only open during weekdays and close around 5 pm. The halls are cleaned every week, and trash is taken out daily. From Monday-Friday there's a designated space where you can collect your post and parcels, as well as contact the maintenance team in case anything is wrong in you room/hall; there is security 24/7 - even during holidays. There are different building, some of them bigger or with extra amenities, but all and all I find the halls of residency very comfortable.
