Loads of career guidance

Study in veterinary science at Bristol for the past 4 years has been amazing. The lecturers and staff are really passionate and want to help you as much as possible. Feedback is prompt and exams are fair. I like the structure of the course and we have had many practicals which have helped me to become prepared for work placements.

We have loads of libraries; one for each sector eg a medical library, an arts library, an veterinary library, and students can use any of these. There is a large gym. There are plenty of computers and laptops to hire, plus printers are dotted around campus.

Personal tutor available for pastoral support, plus access to many services for mental health support.

We have on average 20 hours of lectures and practicals a week and are expected to do a further 20 hours per week of studying. We meet regularly with our personal tutor. During years 1-4 of the course we have many practicals ranging from computer based, to lab based, to animal handling, to clinical surgical skills. We have different lecture types; some didactic, some seminar, some interactive.

Had lectures on the diversity of a veterinary career and the different jobs you can have within the sector. Not much on internships though which would be useful!
