I spent most of my first semester and university, which was a really great way to familiarise myself with the campus and surrounding areas before coming home and having to move fully online for the rest of the year. My experience was made slightly worse by unpleasant and unfriendly flatmates who made our shared living spaces an uncomfortable place to live, meaning myself and my other flatmates did not feel safe returning to campus, even when restrictions were lifted enough to do so. However, the academic and pastoral support I received from the staff on my course was incredible. Even when we were fully online for semester 2, they still made time for us individually in seminars and arranged individual tutorials. It never felt like we were isolated despite not being together physically. I am also studying a heavily practical based course which had to be carried out online, and I thought they adapted it in a way that we still felt like we were learning valuable skills.

We did move fully online but I felt there was still so much support given by tutors and it never felt like we were isolated despite being off-campus.
