Most of what you need is close by if it isn't available on campus! It's very scenic, plenty of bicycle parking, and the ground is mostly flat. They're pretty good with DSA too, and getting that sorted out. When they assess you, they actually treat you like a person!! It's a pretty good place for accessibility, there are lifts in most buildings. Sometimes you have to take a longer route to get to where you need to go though, but it's an adventure! They also have support doggos, and are sometimes seen around campus so if you're lucky, you get to pet them for a happiness boost! They also have bookable sessions with them, and quiet rooms to relax when you get too overwhelmed. Trying to get help from the Wellbeing team is a challenge, and I eventually gave up because it wasn't worth the hassle. Sometimes trying to get skills session as part of DSA takes a long time, depending on who you are with. It can be a confusing process to sort out too. Personally, there isn't a whole lot to improve on. YSJ do what they can to help students and make life a bit more manageable while studying! Maybe restructuring Wellbeing, or if possible getting more staff for it?

Having a mix of teaching was hard. Sometimes classes would be scheduled so close together and trying to get from campus to home in time was tight. I did try booking a space in the library at first, but it wouldn't let me book longer than an hour or I'd have to book two different slots in separate places. In person teaching is good, because you get to interact with classmates and the lecturer. Online teaching was a learning curve for everyone, and the uni did their very best in the time they had to sort stuff out. Course hours are pretty good. As you get further in, it dwindles down. The downside to not having many contact hours in semester 2 of 3rd year is that trying to find the time to see your supervisor can be difficult. Getting in contact with lecturers is quite easy. They're usually only an email away and are pretty prompt at replying. If you book a tutorial but their office isn't accessible then they will ask or suggest a place to meet that is accessible but not too loud. They're really helpful where they can/need to be but they also give you that freedom as an adult. One of the downsides to semester 2 of 3rd year for my course is having two independent projects alongside each other. That's a lot of responsibility and time, and I'm not really learning any new content from teachers. It's a fun idea and it gives creative freedom (within reason), but it also feels really overwhelming

York is a gorgeous place! There are plenty of bars/pubs for those that like to drink or meet with friends, little bookshops for us nerds, Accessibility is a bit difficult because there's a lot of cobblestone, narrow alleys, stairs/narrow stairs. There are plenty of things to do that are accessible, like museums, the dungeons, some exploring around town, the gardens, etc. Trying to find word/part-time work as a disabled student is a bit tricky. A lot of cafes have stairs to get to them, or are expensive (or both!)

It's one of the cheapest accommodations, which is fantastic! It's also really quiet, so great for introverts like me! It is a longer commute to uni, but it's a lovely walk. They also had a partially feral cat who lived around there, she was sweet at times and would occasionally allow to be pet (definitely given some treats/snacks too). Only having 3 washers and 3 dryers for 25-30 houses with 4-5 people in at a time makes it so difficult to get washing done (and the dryers aren't that great, so an airer is recommended). And if you get back late from uni because of classes, or being in the library, or whatever then having to wait for a washer and then stay up later than planned to do it is tiring. Their internet is pretty solid, and they're pretty good at giving appropriate rooms!
