The only downside is probably how small the Music class is as a whole. The popular music class is much bigger in comparison but I’m sure this changes for each year group. The facilities are incredible with so many grand pianos, singing tutors and the hours on campus allow for enough time to learn as well as studying outside of university. Another downside is the walk to the town centre (for Walsall campus) feels like ages but it’s only 20 minutes, however there is a bus straight to the town centre that comes very frequently (the X51) however the university campus bus will take you for free. The teaching staff are lovely and extremely supportive with your decisions and what you decide the course will help you with for your future. They help in all ways they can with assessments and grading and especially mental health which I thought would be a much bigger barrier than it has turned out to be as I’ve had the best levels of support.

I am on campus for 12 hours in a week with each lecture being 4 hours long (with breaks). I have not experienced an online lecture although most lectures can be found on canvas (if your lecturer uses panopto). The course itself is extremely interesting as I have learnt about things I had never heard of before, with the perfect mix of practical and theory work. I have mixed groups with popular music and acting & theatre for two different modules so I was able to make many friends and see how differently the courses were whilst still having much in common, allowing me to expand my choices further.

I am next to a very loud roommate which I know isn’t the university’s fault, however my roommates leave the kitchen in a mess too. Our front door is broken so they added a gate with a code but no one shuts it so it’s not very safe either.
