My experience studying MRes GIS and Remote Sensing at the University of Brighton has been largely positive. The university provides excellent facilities and access to industry-standard software, which is essential for my research. The teaching staff are supportive and help bridge the gap between coursework and independent study effectively. As an international student, I have found the campus environment to be very welcoming and diverse. The only challenge is that the workload can be intense with tight deadlines for assignments and projects, but this pushes you to develop strong time management skills. Overall, it is a great place to build a professional academic foundation.

The best aspect of this course is the practical approach; we spend a lot of time in labs using industry-standard software like ArcGIS, which prepares us well for the job market. The teaching is a good blend of in-class lectures and independent research supervision. The lecturers are knowledgeable and generally available when you need guidance on complex topics. However, the worst aspect is that the timetable can be very intense. Balancing module assignments with the main research project often leads to high-pressure deadlines, so you have to be very organized to keep up.
