I'm in second year, and I'm having a great time. I'm enjoying my course, the uni itself is great, especially the campus, it's stunning!!...

Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

I'm in second year, and I'm having a great time. I'm enjoying my course, the uni itself is great, especially the campus, it's stunning!! I also represent the uni at tennis, which is a brilliant opportunity and privilege. Would recommend it to anyone, unless they're the type of person who needs bustling big city life.

Job Prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

They have employability fairs and the careers department send frequent emails informing us of jobs/opportunities. I worked on a summer camp in the U.S this year, and only applied because of the email I received from the career department.

Course and Lecturers

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

Lecturers are engaging and make the lectures fun. Seminars are always interesting and interactive, plenty of learning.

Students' Union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

It's pretty good. Lots of provision, there will be something you like, even if you don't like much there's so much on offer.

Accommodation

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?

It does the job. One of the cheaper hall options, nothing fancy but decent size and you get what you pay for. Can't complain.

Uni Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

Sports facilities are top class, one of the reasons I chose to attend was because the facilities are so good.

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

I'm not a fan of big cities, so for me it's a good in between, bigger than my home town but not too big. Has everything you could need in terms of shops and sport and entertainment.

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

So much on offer, easy to find information on and join as everyone is so welcoming.

Student Support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

Very good, personal tutor system is great, and feedback on assignments is mixed; sometimes it's great but other times it's a bit generic.

Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

So far as a first year, the first semester has been really easy. Not being from Scotland has led to no issues of being homesick and i haven't experienced issues that haven't been easily solved or had a helpful response. The university has made everything very smooth and easy to transition to university life.

Lots of careers fairs, in-lecture talks and guest speakers. Employability workshops

I like the diverse ways of teaching included interactive learning and group work

Always has events on that are well advertised and cater a wide variety of people. Big on social media so can always see what's on

Accommodation

What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?

Has some great accommodation, so modern and could pass as modern hotel rooms. Some older buildings too, I guess it's what you pay for

Uni Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

Excellent. Having so many national sports centres/academies here such as swimming and tennis as well as the Scottish FA etc means the gym and facilities are top class. Pretty snazzy lecture theatres too

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

Small and simple, but has all you need. Not many clubs but they're really good. Incredibly easy to get into Glasgow or Edinburgh for cheap

Sports teams are too class dominating the bucs leagues. Lots of societies to choose from

Student Support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

Helping first years to understand how to properly complete work instead of throwing us at the deep end with online quizzes and workshop tutorials. Academic feedback is so detailed and personal tutors are very helpful and have meetings available
