The location is great, it’s situated so close to town centre which makes it perfect for shopping and trains. The student union always offers help and has multiple facilities including shops. There are multiple ways of support via personal tutors and student connect.

The lecturer are usually quite hard to contact in person, it’s also difficult to understand sometimes. There are a wide range of facilities with 24/7 open spaces aswell.

Residence Life team offer free hot chocoloates, and there were a room for small engagements. Facilities were cleaned frequently, and provided support 24/7.

The city is a lovely place to be in with a lot of activities and the like to pass the time; the university itself is full of passionate lecturers who clearly care a lot about their subjects and teaching, and there are constant events to encourage student socialisation along with a lot of support options available for those who need it. However, for my course particularly, I have to take a long commute to where I study, outside of the city itself; while this will not be an issue for the next academic year, it has been a stressor for this year. Further, several support events have been on weekdays at times I have lectures and cannot attend them; while my schedule is obviously not universal, the fact they occur on weekdays at all means many people will have similar issues due to the nature of how study and work is scheduled, while doing them on weekends would undoubtly allow them to occur on a time frame much freer and less likely to conflict with existing schedules.

There is a useful mixture of in-class learning, out of class work to consolidate the information in lectures, and time available for help sessions if required. Further, the content is all interesting and helpful for the path I intend to follow in my life; I never feel like I am learning pointless information that will not contribute to my future. However, it, at times, feels like the lecturers leave too much time for practical exercises that are, ultimately, fairly simple and quick to implement, thus eating away at teaching time for minimal benefit — though, I recognise this may merely be me and my experiences, as I have throughout my life often finished these sorts of exercises faster than my peers.

My room in particular has very good amenities for its money, with a lot of space and a sizeable en-suite bathroom; my desk is large and thus gives me a wide workspace, and the many shelves mean I have very little clutter taking up space I would otherwise want or need. The flat itself is also quite pleasant, with a nice kitchen with a powerful hob and oven that makes cooking much less stressful than it might otherwise be. A fairly minor complaint is the routine fire alarm tests that are quite disruptive to my morning, but that is a necessary measure for safety and I would not seriously complain over it — it is somewhat the point of a fire alarm to be obnoxious and noticeable. As a more legitimate complaint, the wi-fi can be spotty and inconsistent at times, dropping out inexplicably and disconnecting my devices seemingly at random, leaving me to wait for it to return to reconnect it, though fortunately my desktop is connected both wirelessly and by LAN cable, so it is a minimal issue in that instance.
