The University of South Wales is a great place to study! It is full of helpful staff and a friendly atmosphere, with a large on-site range of accommodation. The lectures are interesting and the lecturers always strive to help their students. The location of the campuses are all in or a short distance from towns and cities with plenty to do. As a first year, I was apprehensive about attending but I found it easy to make friends and settled in very quickly. The only negative I have is that I don’t get to use some of the facilities as much as I’d like to (for example the crime scene house).

The course is very interesting and the lecturers are constantly available to email or contact if needed. They are friendly and always happy to help and want their students to succeed to their full potential and are genuinely passionate about their course. The lecturers come from various work and geographical backgrounds, offering a variety of insight into the criminological world. I would like to use some of the facilities more (like the crime scene house) to enhance my learning. There is an opportunity for work placements and the advice zone will assist if any help is needed.

The accommodation has recently been refurbished and is good quality and well kept. The locks and security in place makes me feel very safe in accommodation. When we’ve had issues with the accommodation, they have, for the most part, been sorted in a timely manner. The only thing I will critique is that the premium rooms are at the top of campus, which is on a steep hill, so the walk up isn’t ideal. The WiFi is fairly reliable, and I’ve only had issues with it once or twice.

The environment on campus can be quite boring sometimes however on quiz and kareoke nights it is so much fun, so many opportunities within the uni to socialise as well !
