It is a lovely campus and everything is close together. Everyone is friendly and there is lots to do especially with the student union and other events to do with Lets Do Leicester which is completely free. Most buildings are nice and modern and comfortable but there are some which are too old and not nice to sit in especially for 2 hour lectures. It is near the city centre which is good and my accommodation is also quite nearby which is great. However, I think what would make it better is if there was a university shuttle to take you to the city as it is probably over a 30 minute walk so doing this for a small fee or even free would make it even better. Another good thing about the uni is that there are lots of extracurricular activities you can join, but the downside is that some of the activities are in a different site you need a bus to get to and the buses are not very frequent. There are common rooms which are good for meeting new people and there is a good bar very near my accommodation for students.

The course content is very interesting but there are some topics which I think are not as interesting and are dragged out a bit. The readings we have to do are often interesting and expand what we learn in the lectures and there are other activities we are given to do are fun. Everything is in person which I think is very good. we do not have many hours in small groups though as most of it is lectures. I do think the groups are quite big for the way they work - heavily discussion based. The professors are very interesting and you can tell they enjoy teaching their subject and they all have hours you can pop in and ask them questions, as well as them always being open to questions and they are all very friendly. For the school of criminology it has its own building and there is a crime scene room which is very cool and we have used it for a case. There is also a study space just for crim students which is good.

With the location, it is very close to the university campus and so it is only a 5 minute walk there which is great when you are running late to lectures. The downside is that we are right at the back so all the amenities for freemans is a short walk away. The lift often breaks and it takes a while to be fixed which is annoying and security often doesn't want to come to let us in if we've locked ourselves out because it's further away. We are close to a pub and Morrisons. The rooms are nice though and the bed is very comfy.

The campus is very hygienic and well organised with maps throughout the area so you can easily locate yourself. The lectures a re big and spacious with the work being engaging and enthralling. There is always activities going on and with such a range of societies to join, becoming social and making friends couldn't be easier. However the lack of charging plugs in lectures is a key issue, and often find my computer dying mid lecture if I have multiple in one day. The student accommodation village being in Oadby is fine but being told that buses run every 5 minutes when in matter of fact they run every 15-20 was frustrating and time consuming if I had breaks during lectures. The city accommodation is much more updated and should be advertised as some of the best accommodation to choose instead of the village where repairs were often needed for my flat. Pricing of accommodation was varied and very affordable depending your economic status which is inclusive and also offers more choice when deciding. Persona tutors is an amazing addition to have to the university experience, where you can have a singular mentor who is able to help and direct you to where you need to go. the support system is concise and easy to follow, should someone use it. I think Leicester is an amazing university and I would very much recommend it to anyone who is unsure of a university to enrol to.

I thoroughly enjoy my lectures and the course I have studied. The lecturers and engaging and also very helpful if you are stuck and in need of help. The Lecture halls are clean however, due to a large class size, there is often not enough seats for all the pupils so some turn up and have to leave due to no space. Again, with there being no chargers in the hall, I struggle to make it through multiple lectures without my computer dying. tutors are amazing to have and during my first year, mine personally was really helpful and insightful for me however we are not introduced to our tutor until after the October break, so if you are struggling before then it is difficult to reach or know who your personal tutor is.

The location is good and bad. Being in a little village away from the bustling city life is enjoyable and I preferred being away from the city. The location itself in Oadby is gorgeous, with pretty scenery and nice walks to take. However getting to and from university was a pain. The buses showed every 15-20 mins which was not the 5 minutes we were all told about. On top it takes another 15 minutes to get to university which isn't bad but if you add up the waiting and travel it takes almost half an hour just to get to or from university. Its closeness to an Asda or Lidl is very useful and also offering the cost choice as to where you shop from is also a life saver, if shopping becomes tight. I never had a problem with the WIFI and neither did any of my friends or flatmates. Although the flat was safe, the entrance door would never shut properly so anyone could get into the building without use of a fob, just not into the flats or specific rooms. Using a fob is fine, But really annoying since you need it on you all the time, even if you need the bathroom in the middle of the night. Our flat was broken into via the fire exit, by a man who was very intoxicated and assaulted one of the flatmates. after the quick removal of the man, the broken glass door was boarded up with thin, flimsy wood. However this is not a normal experience so is to be taken with a pinch of salt. I though for the price and what I was getting it was very affordable and worth the money. I shared with one other girl bathroom -wise and my bedroom was nice and spacious. All of the appliances in the room was well kept and not broken/ damaged previously.
