I am really enjoying university granted I probably do not get as involved as I probably could do with socities, student union and groups. However I feel that is the best thing about univrsity that there is lots of support, different groups and a union to be part of but it is up to you if you choose to join. You are able to take what you need from university, whether that be just attending the lectures, using the library or really getting involved in all the groups. This is what helps Uclan to be inclusive there is no forcing you to get involved and the right amount of support is there for you depending on how much you need or choose to take.

My university has given me some excellent career advice and the options that could be open to me when I have completed the course. At Uclan you are encouraged to be independant and helped to control of your own time keeping, career choices and responsibilities. Which I feel is a great thing as it should be up to the student to take control, however, there is lots of support on offer along the way with both one on one tutorials, guest speakers, general information and leaflets at the help desk, open evenings, up to date information and guidance on Blackboard and the tutors are always available to offer help and advice along the way.

The friendly, supportive and most importantly inclusive lectures. Many of the tutors are very approachable and offer support along the way. The library staff are also very helpful and make you feel comfortable to study there. I feel that because of the help, support and great constructive critism I have been able to learn and build upon my skills and it shows in my marks as each time I am gaining more and more. I really enjoy the course I am on and believe that it is due to the great teaching styles and the support that I know is on offer if I need it.

I generally do not get involved in the student union, mainly because I am just too busy as I work at part time around my course and have two children at home too plus the workload. I know a couple of people on my course do get involved with the student union and really enjoy doing so but I guess it is just whatever works for you along the way.

The library and the staff there are graat however there is often a shortage of good books in there but they are available for order and take a couple of days to be delivered. Apart from that though the library is a great place to study the staff make sure noise is kept down, there are computers and laptops available and printing is a reasonable price.

I live in the same town of Burnley and have done for a number of years. So it is great to be able to stay at gome whilst studying local. Although I will be moving on to Preston next year to complete the rest of my course. So hopefully city life will be great.

Again like I said before I just feel I am too busy with trying to juggle family life, uni life and work life to get involved with societies and groups.

There is plenty of academic support available. There are lots of useful documents from wiser on blackboard to help you along your way or the tutors can offer guidance along the way if needed. The libray staff are very helpful if you need to find a book or need help with the computers or printing. All the staff seem very helpful, supportive and most importantly approachable.
