Really welcoming and diverse community at York. Really great atmosphere. Staff are always lovely and knowledgeable. Like all unis, they need to treat their staff better.

Plenty of contact time, like all subjects, the students have to make the efforts to arrange to meet in staff office hours. Staff always clear as to when their office hours are. Issue is our lectures are far too long, 2 hours is nothing short of cruel but this is lecture length is not of the staff's choosing so I will not hold that against them. Some of the things being taught can feel very abstract and jargonistic but staff are always willing to simplify things. Cohort is very conscious and we make an active effort to avoid jargon in seminars. Like that I have lab work. I have never used much computer software, so I like that I am being taught the how to use Stata.

Uni accommodation is far to pricy. Always has been, but it's way cheaper than private halls, so I worry that the Uni will not have the captaincy to keep 2nd/3rd year etcs still on campus. Like having on suite, nice to be on campus and close to things. Room is decent size, very cosy and love the bookshelves. Oven broke in Wentworth and did take a month to fix. I was considering with holding my rent but it was fixed eventually. I know it sounds drastic but a month's wait is disgusting. If I am paying so much, I expect at the bare minimum for everything to work.
